B7100 fluid question...

Hey guys, newbie here been reading for awhile...learned alot, thanks!!!!...Now I've got a question....just bought a 1981 B7100 diesel 4 wheel drive with a manual tranny...got a snow/dirt blade on front..serial #b7001-66100...heres the ???...blew a hose to blade....service manual seems to say use #80 gear oil for hydralic...dip stick fluid level next to gear shift dropped when hose burst....so tranny fluid and hyd same supply...gear oil does'nt sound right for hyd. to me.....don't have owners manual....no lube chart or anything in service manual...(different problem no time for it now).

.called dealer close to me and they're not sure as to type of fluid...please HELP!!!...Thanks Karl

This may seem to simple but when your hose blew, what came out? Gear oil or thin hydraulic oil?

My late 70's B7100 owners manual says 80w gear oil or equiv. The shop manual says Kubota UDT, Shell Donax-TD or TM, Mobile 350 or Exxon Torque Fluid or any suitable equivalent. Hope that helps. I run regular 80w.

DieselPower........couldn't really tell not as thick as gear oil....not as thin as hyd.fluid....thats why I was confused

..don't know history of tractor and have found out since purchase that previous owner told a few un-truths

...about tractor.....imagine that!!!!

LHoyer....thats what I ran into, conflicting info...

But the happy ending is I called TractorSmart in Pa......talked to a fella there ..forgot his name...I'm real bad with names.....anyway he has been with Kubota since '75....he told me there was an error in my service manual...instead of #80 gear oil..it should of been #80 mineral oil....which is now UDT....or a reasonable equivalent...so I got said equivalent.....getting ready to put her back together.......Thanks for the quick responses....Karl
