While my tractor is out of commission due to the steering gear assembly, I thought I take some pictures of what I ended up doing with lights on the ROP.
As you see from all the posts, I really didn't have all that great of options for getting good lights powered and I ended up spending way too much time and probably money to make it work.
I started out with 2 rectangle 55watt halogens from TSC and I found that they drained to much power so I tried to just use them sparingly. No luck. To many dead batteries... I decided to see if I could find some led bulbs to fit inside the rectangle light housing and ended up with 2 bulbs shown in the "rear-led-bulb.jpg" photo attached. Long story short, getting these to fit I ended up doing some hot gluing and breaking of some plastic. An hour or so later they worked and did not kill my battery quickly. I decided to point one to the front and one to the rear. This worked ok until it actually got dark outside and I had to USE them. They really didn't give enough light so I had to look at getting something else and point both rectangle ones to the rear. (this seems to give good enough light).
On Ebay, I came across the round front light (front-54-led-light.jpg) and got a housing for it from TSC. The 54 led light is a Truck-Lite Model 44 backup lamp. It cost about $55.00. This light is way brighter than the 2 rears together but still nowhere near the original 55watt halogens.
As you can see the front one I welded the bracket to the square tubing and the rear ones I just drilled a hole trhough one side of the tube and was able to tighten the nut from the hole in the ends. The square tube is just hose clamped on and is quite tight.
I put a couple of toggle switches for the front and rear on the dash just perfect so my knee hits them and turns them on. All in all, a pretty crappy solution but it works....
Thanks to all those that helped.
