I bought one of these last year for $400 - I had to make an upper 3pt hitch arch and get a new shaft, which I have done now I have someone who wants work done with it. I tried it in long grass and it quickly gets wrapped with hay and is great fun to clear. So I sharpened the leading edges of the four rows of knives with an angle grinder. Still clogs up. Doesn't seem to do much on the lawn either - just knocks it over. Belt is OK. I have no experience with a flail. Any ideas? I imagine this is a rebranded unit as it is italian made for Kubota Canada.

About your mower, it is probably a Maschio product.

If you have material wrapping around the flail mower rotor you are traveling
too fast or the flail mower rotor is rotating too slow and or the knives probably
do not have the proper edge either after you ground them with the angle grinder,
also you may have taken the temper out of the steel used for the side slicers.

About your side slicer knives trying to make an edge
with a grinder is not really a good idea. A wet well knive grinder is best for this.

Why was the top link attachment missing?

YOU need to tell us how you are operating-meaning travel speed/PTO speed/engine speed etc.
if you are not maintaining an engine speed for 540 RPM operation that is also an issue.
