b3200 with FEL and BH77 backhoe on 16' trailer?

I went from a 16 to 20 and glad I did. With the crazy wheel of my 5' shredder rotated forward it will just sit on the end of the trailer with the FEL bucket flat on the trailer(of course this is without the BH). I always lower my BH bucket onto the trailer too with room to spare.

beckmurph, is it just the angle of the picture? The trailer looks to be maxed out.

Teikas dad, have you checked regulations? You may be required to have trailer brakes. Something to consider when buying the trailer.

beckmurph, quick question for you. Are you using a weight distributing hitch on your setup or just going with the receiver hitch and balancing the weight with tractor position? I've got the trailer picked out, it's an 18' X 6'4" landscape trailer that weighs 1750 lbs. The B3200 TLB weighs in at 3400 lbs bringing the whole setup at 5150 lbs. I've got a 2000 GMC Sierra 1500 with a 6k tow rating and also might tow the trailer with my Toyota FJ Cruiser. Only problem with the Toyota is it's got a manufacturers tow rating of 5k lbs. The GMC has 180k miles on it and I need to take the trailer 275 miles a couple times. The Toyota only has 50k on it and is in much better shape. Trying to decide the best way to handle the whole thing. Thanks.

I'd recommend a WDH for long hauls or heavy tongue weight on any half ton that doesn't have a high towing capacity. Might also need one to stay legal... Here is a quick thread with my trials. http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/...zer-weight-distribution-hitch-worthwhile.html

Good luck and stay safe!

The trailer has dual 3500 lb axles with electric brakes on both axles. Snowback, your rig is a lot heavier than mine, I'm only 3400 lbs that's why I figured a landscaping trailer rated for 7k rather than a 10k equipment trailer. I'm not going to be using it every day, maybe only making a long (275 mile one way) trip a couple times a year.

I don't need a WDH for my loads, I have a 1 ton Ram. But if I was pulling over 5k with a half ton I think I would want a WDH.

OK, for the couple hundred bucks that a WDH costs it sounds like the way to go. I pulled an 18' camp trailer with my old pickup, a 2wd 1/2 ton and the WDH made a big difference. I just wasn't sure with a landscaping trailer where I can move the tractor to distribute the weight better if it was needed or not. And, I'm looking at an 18' trailer not a 16'. Everyone has already disabused me of that plan!

Understood on the lighter load. One other possible benefit is having the sway control. (Extra cylinder needed if you get a hook and Chain WDH, or built in with solid bar setups.) Less porpoising or blowing around when passing or being passed by bigger rigs... Stay safe and have fun!

No WD hitch. I just use the factory hitch.
I pulled this trailer with my ex B3200 tlb on it with my 2011 Ford Ranger. It was an auto with the 4.0 v6.
My gross weight was 9975. :D
With the F150, the same trailer, the B2650 tlb and loaded rear tires, my gross is 11,500. :cool2:

Wow! That must have been "interesting" with the Ranger!! Just thought of something when I looked at your photo again. What size brush hog do you have? Mine is a 60" and doesn't look as big as the one you've got on your tractor.

My cutter is Woods BBx48. 48" bushhog.

Using my ex Ranger to tow my B3200 tlb was
not a problem or exciting. The gross combination vehicle rating was 9250 and I was a couple hundred lbs over the rating.

Round trip to my farm is 211 miles. There are several grades from 4-6%.
