Pulling my Landpride 6' core aerator when all **** broke loose... Lift arm came off at the tractor & swung into the axle hub, gouging a small hole in the hub.... I'm at the mercy of the dealer on this one because I'm neither welder nor mechanic (I'm strictly shade tree, lol)... Pic isn't the best but I'm wondering if this hub can be welded rather that replaced?

JB weld and some touch up paint?

What I would do, is carefully drill it (clean it), and then put a small screw with red loctite to cap it. Only if there is room or do the JB weld trick.

Since it's not under pressure, either or would work. The JB weld, if you took your time, would look neater and probably no one would even know. (Except for us, and you. ;) )

Hah, I just replied to the other post recommending JB. Had not seen this one.

The JB Weld is a great idea. I have used in a similar situation and it solved the problem. That oil is under a mild degree of pressure but should be of no issue.

I would try the suggestions of repairing it with JB weld before replacing it.

I'm with you..... I've drained the rear transmission fluid & cleaned up the area before applying the JB Weld.... I'll give it 24 hours to set up & give it a try.... If it still leaks then it's time to pursue other options... Hate like heck to let the dealer take it in because there's no way of knowing when I'll get it back with harvest going on....

Do it yourself. It's a R&R job.

A good welder could repair that just like it sits with no problem. If you se JB weld eep watch to see if it starts leaking at a later date

Yeah..... I'm not sure how long my shade tree repair (with JB Weld) will hold up, so I'll keep an eye on it.... What I did determine from the dealer was that the repair would run $1200 -
$1300 & they'd have my tractor for 2+ weeks.... Totally unacceptable.....

If you clean the surface thoroughly and it is slightly abraded for adhesion, I've seen JB stick to everything except certain plastics like planter boxes. I've even fixed pock marks in outside concrete and commercial shop floors and 8 years later it's still looks like the day I did it.

Yep, clean it and JB weld ... should last for many years like that. If you ever have it off for any reason at a later date, have it welded up, 30 minute job to clean the area, degrease and weld if it's off the tractor. Keep your eyes open for and stress cracking or anything like that.
