B3200 54" or 60" bucket.

The dealer said he will upgrade my bucket to the 60" for no extra charge. I noticed on the Kubota website it's listed as a 'light materials'. Since I don't plan on lifting feathers with it should I go with the free upgrade or stick with the 54"? Thanks

I had the 60" light and I lifted a lot more than feathers with it. I never noticed any thing light about it and wouldn't have known it was a light if I hadn't been told. Look at one and you'll see for yourself.

I'd get the 60. It will be fine for most uses, and as a benefit, will be as wide as the tractor will ever be ...... even if you put the wheel spacers on it.

I looked at both buckets and as far as construction they seem equal in build strength. What first appears to be a narrower cutting edge on the 60" light materials bucket is the way it is wrapped and welded to the bucket body. On the 60" a greater portion of the edge is welded under the bucket body. The cutting edge appears to be as strong on either.

As others have said on this topic, the warning is more a reminder that it is a larger bucket and be aware of what you are doing with it. IMO, by adding 3" out on each side the potential for extra torque being applied to the the loader arms is there with more potential of twisting damage to loader frame with heavy digging with the FEL that the op should realize. I'm sure Kubota wants to limit it's liability with the warning sticker. The loader arms on the B3200/3300 are at a relatively narrow spread compared to some other brands. Actually they are the same spread as on the smaller B2x20 Kubotas.

Having said all of this, I'm sure you wil be happy with either. The 60" has it's advantages as others have pointed out. I went back and forth on this but ordered the 54" for extra maneuverability in close quarters, the 54" drops inside width of P/U bed and less torque on frame.

I have both a 50" and the 60" and so far I have never used the 50". The bigger bucket is just more useful. It does what you want it to do and that is haul stuff.

I've got a 50" and 60" for my B2620. I use them both. 60" is great for snow, wood chip, mulch and soil piling and spreading. I've got a toothbar on the 50". If I had the B3200 and was getting one bucket I would probably get the 60". It's pretty rugged but it is a bigger span with potential for bending the bottom. If you are getting in tight places a lot you might want the 54.

If you are going to be using the loader for any digging, brush grubbing, etc go for the 54". If you are just going to be using it for moving loose material go for the 60".

Also, depending on your tire choice the 54" may be better. A heaping 54" bucket of gravel is about all the front Ag tires can handle, about the same with the turf tires. With Industrial tires that shouldn't be an issue.

I had the same dilemma when I bought my B3300SU a month or so ago. I wanted the 54" and the dealer STRONGLY suggested the 60". I got the 60". I've used the heck out and even toted rocks in it that the FEL could barely lift and it's just fine. I'm glad I went with the 60" and the whole "Light Duty" thing has not been an issue at all so far.

I have the 60" on my B3200 and no complaints. I just wanted to haul a couple more pieces of firewood at one time. I have toothbar on mine but have not tried any heavy digging yet.

When I bought my B7800, which is a bit smaller than a B3200, the 54" bucket came standard. The dealer was out of 54" buckets so he gave me a 60" bucket for no extra charge. The B7800 handles dirt and gravel easily with the 60". And its a much better size for moving snow.

I have done some serious rock rooting with mine and it is still straight. With normal use the light bucket will never be a problem. You have the extra payload available over the heavy duty bucket too.:thumbsup:
