14 acres or rolling hills aerated yesterday, 8 hours seat time. I have to look into something more comfortable.

I let my dad use my B2630 this past weekend to aerate his lawn and he said that the seat killed his back. It has never bothered me any. He commented that it leans forward way to much for him.

Thats odd that so many have complained about the B3030 seat. I find mine very good and no problem leaning forward. I do have mine set for a soft ride, maybe that setting has something to do with it. I'll have to have the wife sit on it and get her opinion. Well maybe I wont, she may like it. HaHa

I had the optional air suspension seat in stalled in mine. It is very comfortable.

Big time OT here but down here it seems most aerate the yard in the spring. Just talked to a friend in VA and he just had his yard done. What's the thought behind doing it now. Mainly just talking about yards here I guess.

Sorry about the hyjack, but my seat on my L is very comfy.

Was the air seat a Kubota product or aftermarket dealer option??

Rob,
At least for the midwest US the best time for aeration is fall. Over the winter the plugs will have time to breakdown, further loosen the soil and roots will further spread. I don't know if the lack of snowcover in your area would affect this process, but doesn't your grass go dormant over winter as well?

the air seat was a dealer option on the m7040. It is a Grammer german manufacture seat that is commonly used on large tractors. Cost about $500 with built in air compressor

Sometimes is does. Sometimes more than others. Last year in Spring we only got one decent hard freeze. Usually not enough to kill everything. At the weekend place it gets colder, about 100 miles north. But I'm just talking about yards for homes, not pastures. Nobody does much to the pastures except spray for weeds and put out some fertilizer. That's done in the spring to.

I've been very surprised by the seat on my L4400. Its a low end seat on a low end tractor. It has no arm rests. The firmness (bounce!) can be adjusted as well as the position. There is already some air between the padding and the vinyl after a year of staying outdoors under a tarp. However, I'm 6'4" and the seat is very comfortable for me. I've never spent 8 hours in it at a time but I've spent 5 or 6 and I don't get any neck or back pain. Probably just a happy coincidence that it fits me so well.

I wish I could say the same about my left knee and the clutch!
