Puzzled here as to why? Only 90 hours on tractor and after using the fert speader now the arms will not come down. It will drop maybe an inch at most and then stop like it is locked up. Fluid level is fine and clean and even 2 of us pulled on it and it wouldn't budge. I did notice that before it stuck, every once in a well I would have to push on it to get it to go down. But that was it, a slight push and only when something lighter like an empty speader was attached. Help!! :D

Have you checked the drop rate knob under the seat? It sounds like it is fully closed.

Ok if the valve is open its beyond me sorry. I hope it is nothing serious.

If the fertilizer spreader was on for some time, or was used a lot, you could have some rust in the linkage. I would spray the pivot points with Kroil, or other good penetrating oil, and see if that helps. Does the linkage on the lever used to raise, and lower the 3pt seem to work freely?

I'm sure you visually checked to see that nothing is interfering. It sounds like time to call the dealer and ask them about it.

Ok, call me crazy but I just thought about something and I'll check it tomorrow if that might be an issue. Is it possible that the PTO shaft going to the speader is somehow not allowing it to release down. Reason I say that it "acts" just like it is "locked" up in the up position when you try and put t down. Moves maybe an inch and then just stops. I have no problem taking it to the dealer. He is about 45 mins away but I just don't want it to be someting stupid I missed. :(

I hope it just something real simple. Keep us posted.

I will second you looking at the PTO shaft, I have a 60inch tiller that never had a problem going up and down until one day we had adjusted the length of the top link (which moved the tiller just a little bit closer to the tractor) and as a result the tiller would hesitate to drop part way down. It turned out that the PTO shaft was bottoming out and causing the hesitation. Shortened the shaft about 2 inches (and put the top link back to original length) and no more hesitation.
