I am in the market for a small tractor (1st ever). I started looking at the BX25D, rented one. I would like and could do with that, but it is simply more than my budget allows. All the TLBs I have found are too high, new. So I'm looking used and without a backhoe. I can rent the BX25D whenever I need the backhoe ($200 per day).

Lots of options looking used without a backhoe - except very few are local and what I want.

So, a Kubota B2910 just came on the market at $8,200. Older than I want, but not sure that is really any big deal. 4 cyl engine should make it do more with less effort (I'm hoping it means it runs smoother and quieter). Plenty of HP for my needs (brush clearing, road maintenance, landscaping all on 6 acres).

What are your thoughts on this B2910 at this price point?

Link shows the listing removed?

Sigh, it was only posted two hours ago, was going to call during my lunch hour in a few minutes.

Well, thanks for looking at the post!

The search continues.

When it comes to good used tractors, particularly CUTS, you need to have your finances in order and be prepared to move fast.

Especially on a B2910 for less than $10K. Sorry my friend.

I've owned several Bs. A B7800, B3200, B2320 and B2620 and B7100 (currently own) and several BXs. BX2200, BX1500, BX2350, BX2660, and a BX25 (My favorite all time Kubota) and all of the Bs have been louder and less smooth than any of the BXs at operating RPMs. The BXs are a bit rough, not loud for a tractor, at idle speeds but the Bs are to. You have to bump the RPMs up a bit on a BX to smooth them out and this doesn't help as much when you do it on a B.
You may have gotten a bad BX to try or you need to do some dealer lot looking before you go much farther.
You also need to look at this thread.

I thought my B2910 4cyl was very, very smooth. I did a lot of idling around work with it as well as run a mmm. Smooth as glass. Way smoother than my JD2210 3 cyl.

That's a difference between the B2910 and B2710. 29 is 4cyl, 27 is 3cyl.

My bad, JOHNTHOMAS - the BX was fine! I was just hoping going from 3 to 4 cylinders would make it even MORE than fine! Just being greedy. :D
