I've noticed that my FEL won't lift the front wheels off the ground like it used it. It still will, but only maybe 1/4 of an inch and it seems like it's working hard. I'm not sure if this is new behavior since I did the 50 hours service (last november) or if it's just started happening in the last week or so. (First time I noticed it). What is the procedure for ensuring that there's no air in the system? Any other idea's of what might be wrong? Everything else seems to work ok.

Any and all information appreciated.

Have a good one,
Dave

Must have gained weight over winter, it happens to the best of us! Realy the air will blead out on it's own by cyl moving to end of stroke either way. thers nothing you could have changed by changing the oil except the oil wt. itself. are you doing exactly everything the same as before. for instance rpm. brakes off or on,tractor hot or cold, you see the point. more important any diffrence of weight on three pt ht. or back hoe ect.

Yup, everything is the same. I did try to lift a really heavy log on the 3 point about 2 weeks ago . .could that have damaged it? It was too heavy for the 3 point. The thing is, the other 3 directions seem to work fine . .just down pressure is not working. Breakout, dump, and lift seem to be good.

Dave

Any air should self bleed. Are you trying to lift the front with the loader bucket flat on the ground? If it wont lift the front end with the bucket half way dumped you have a problem. Trying to lift something too heavy with the 3ph will just open the relief valve and protect the system, you should'nt have damaged anything that way. Even if the 3ph system was damaged it would'nt effect the loader on that machine as the 3ph works after the loader. Also, if you have a backhoe and the stabilizers are down you wont lift the front end with the loader.

Yup, I'm trying to lift the front with the bucket flat on the floor. Am I just imagining that I used to do that? It will lift the front end by dumping the bucket. It seems to me that I used to be able to lift the front end 3-4 inches with the bucket on the floor, but possibly that was by dumping it. ?

Dave

Ok, just an update . . .

After mowing on Sunday I put the FEL back on last night and with the bucket flat on the floor it will lift the tires 2-3 inches with no problem. My theory is that all the turning while mowing bled the air out of the hydraulics. I thought I had read somewhere that turning the powersteering side to side would bleed the system, but I can't find any posts here or anything in the service manual that says this, so possibly I'm imagining it. ?? Anyway, all is well in Kubota land!

have a good one,
Dave

Yesterday I tried lifting my front wheels off the ground on my B2910, with the bucket flat. It did not lift much if at all.

Then I remembered I had the box blade on it and it was sitting on the ground. I lifted the box off the ground and the loader lifted the wheels just fine, with the bucket in the flat position.

I am guessing that the top link was holding against the back of the tractor when the box was on the ground. Also with the box lifted the counter-ballance effect would help take some weight off the front wheels, making the lift easier for the loader.

When you were trying the first time and it did not lift, did you have something on the back that might have been fighting the loader, like my box blade was?

Or, now that it lifts, do you have something on the back that is helping the loader, like my box blade when it is off the ground?

Just curious...I am going to have to try lifting the wheels with the bucket flat when I take the box blade off... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

That was probably a post I made some time ago. I found in the service manual that to bleed the air out of the system, you should turn the steering wheel lock to lock several times applying a little pressure at the ends of the travel. I had some air in my system once, and this cured it right away. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Well I was definately turning lock/lock while mowing! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

The only difference between the work/non-work scenario is that the MMM wasn't on when it wouldn't lift, but it was when it did. I guess it probably had some pressure on the 3pt arms, but if I remember correctly it was in "float" mode when I did my test.

I'm tickled pink that everything is still working. I just wish the **** ground would dry up again so I could go out and work. (3 inches of rain in the last 5 days . . . /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif )

have a good one,
Dave

(B2150HST) My dealer's service manager advised me to lift the front end by putting the bottom of the bucket perpendicular to the ground, they - while lowering the bucket - slowly inch the tractor forward with the HST in low range. Worked nicely.
