Tractor
kubota
Well I finally made the investment in a new B2630 with LA403 loader and BH75 backhoe. I would like to thank every one who unknowingly gave me information through these forums. I have learned a lot about tractors in the last few weeks from reading all the posts here. The tractor will be here next friday. So next weekend should be fun. I'm sure I'll have plenty of questions in the future.

Good for you. I have had a 2630 for about two weeks now. All is well so far. Love it. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I am also considering a 2630. I wanted a 2320 Deere but it will not be available by the time I need to buy a tractor. I looked at a 2520 Deere but for the same money the 2630
Kubota offered a lot more features such as 3 range trans and stronger hydraulics on the 3 point hitch. Also the telescopic lower end links and stabilzers. I was quoted $16000. even for tractor, L403 loader and fluid in rear tires. Is this around what you paid? Now I just have to sweet talk the wife to get the deal moving! Enjoy your new tractor!

For those of you who now own the 2630 I'm curious about what were the key reasons you decided on it and what else you considered. Along with this if you could speak to anticipated uses/projects this would be informative as well. Thanks bunches!

BCNU, I paid $16,300 for tractor with loader, back hoe was $6,600. No loaded tires, the two dealers near me were the exact same price. This was as low as they were going to go.There aren't to many kubota dealers close. I bought from the dealer that gave me the most attention. Both dealers have good reputations but I went into the other dealer three times before someone would even acknowledge I was there.I bought it from RI harvester real nice people. I don't know if the price is adjusted for New England.Everything seems more expensive up here.

I paid 15,597 with loader and 60" bucket, loaded tires, two chain hooks. I liked the 3030 but was about a 1000 more. 2630 had almost everything the 3030 had but 4hp less. 3cyl vs 4cyl. could be worth it to go for 3030. So far so good on power with 2630. Clearing land, rototilling, back blade, lots of power. I wanted small tractor that would get around in the woods and felt the 2630 was the most bang for the buck. Hope this helps a little. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Did you get the folding ROPS included in that price, Do you know what the cost of the folding ROPS is ? Also dose anyone know what the cost of a Kubota ballast box is?

BCNU, You might want to buy an implement such as a box blade that has some use rather than buying a ballast box for the weight. I don't know what your intentions are with a new tractor. but there is not much use for a ballast box except for weighing down the back end. If you chose to get a ballast box, there are many informative treads on how to build your own on this site that will save you a lot of $$$$.

BCNU Yes, I got the folding ROPS.

I paid $46 for my BB when I bought my B3030..( same Ballast box). Glad I got it too....I dont need to drag around a 400 Plus pound impliment when all I need to carry is a ballast box for "weight". Besides...Im working in pretty tight quarters at times..and need as LITTLE behind me as I can get ( physical size that is)

Joelenahan, I considered a box blade and hanging weights on it but I would like a ballast box for doing some mulching. I want a ballast box so I can run about 3 pieces PVC pipe down inside of it so I can place my mulching forks down inside them. I am a machinist and a supervisor over a maintenance dept at the factory I work for and have all the equipment that I would need to build a ballast box, but I also have a lawn service that keeps me so busy that I just don't have time to build one, so it would be better for me to purchase one and be done with it.

Went to my local Kubota dealer today to talk some more about a 2630 and to get a price on a ballast box. He told me that if I got fluid in the rear tires which was part of our deal that I wouldn't need a ballast box that the fluid in the tires would be enough weight for the weight capacity of the LA403 loader. As I have never owned a loader what is everyones opinon on this. I want to be safe but if I wouldn't need one that would be more money to put towards an attachment.

BCNU -

If you are *only* going to be moving mulch / hay around in your FEL - then "maybe" only filled tires would be enough....

I don't have filled tires - but always put some kind of counterweight on my 3PH - and I still have experienced "the Pucker Factor" on several occasions. Trust me - you DO NOT want to go there - ever! The balance point of the tractor changes when you have a big weight on the FEL - and (unfortunately) you usually don't get much warning that your tractor has become "tippy".

Rule No. 1: Always keep your load in FEL as low as possible! That way you can drop the load / FEL a short distance very quickly - and get all 4 wheels back on the ground!

For convenience - I keep my 3PH forks on my home-built 3PH most of the time - and that way I can pick up my "counterweight du jour" - right now its a huge old, airtight woodstove - but can have it off in an instant if I need to - for example - hook up a lawn cart.

Unless the width / stability of a B2630 is MUCH greater than my B7610 - I'd still be looking for a rear counterweight. I would NOT buy the Kubota weightbox again personally - wish I'd gotten a BB instead. Come to think of it - a BH would be REALLY nice... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Cheers,

Dan

I have a B3030 with Rim Guard filled rear turf tires and FEL. If I try to lift something heavy with the corner of the bucket the opposite rear tire will lift off the ground. If the load is centered I have never had both rear tires off of the ground. It has been my expereience that as long as you stay on fairly level ground, keep the loaded bucket low to the ground and travel slowly while it is loaded, the tractor will not be tippy. That is not to say that more weight on the rear would not be better. I am just saying that it is not necessary in my opinion. My dealer said they always fill the rear tires when selling a tractor with FEL. I think that makes a lot of sense. It helps maximize the performance of the tractor and makes it safer as well.

Went back to my dealer today and pulled the trigger on the 2630 and LA403 loader. Will be deivered by this thursday supossedly because he has to get it from another dealer. He still insisted that with filled tires that I would not need a ballast box. I want to take him as being honest about it because by saying that I will not need one he is losing the money he would make on the ballast box. He told me they would deliver it to my house and go over everything with me and anytime after that if I needed anything or wasn't happy about something to let him know and he would come himself to make it right. I have never bought anything from this dealer before but I was told by people that have, that they really take care of their customers. So now its time to start looking at some attachments for it!

What you might do is to contact your dealer..since you have gone with the decision to use loaded tires ( I didnt..but there are other reasons involved) and tell him that If...IF the loaded tires ARENT ENOUGH ( and they might very well BE enough weight for you) that you EXPECT a rear B Box...for COST! That way it wont actually cost HIM a dime!!! For my B3030..it was "right at"?..$48 bucks!
