B2630 or B7800?

I'd go with the "L" series, probably at least the 34 hp version. "B" series tractors are all weak and lightly made. I have a 10'x10' slab of 4" concrete that I need to break up and remove. Neither end of my tractor will bust it, move it - frustrates the tractor and it just sits there straining with it's hoses swelling and it's cylinders heating up without the cement pad noticing it's presence.

I don't understand all the hoopla about the 1/4 inching valve. It only "quarter inches" if it's moved to the stops but if you simply move the handle outside the stops the 3PH goes up or down as smooth as could be and can be set anywhere without ever using the 1/4 incher feature. Don't any complainers know that?

Anyway, my Kubota will be a baby TLB from now on (for whatever that's worth). I got a deal on a Jinma for all 3PH work. WHAT a tractor that is!! :D

My buddy has a 4200 JD. He used my B2910 Kubota for a few minutes and said "WOW, that's a nice little tractor". Go for the Bells and Whistles of the 2630/3030. Buying the 7800 would be like buying a new truck without AC because it's only hot half the year. :)

When I bought my B-7800, I also looked at the L series. I'm glad I went with the B-7800 as some of my projects would not have been accessible with the larger tractor. Some of my other projects would have been completed a lot faster with the L series but the 7800 completed, it just took longer which gave me more seat time.
As far as the bells and whistles on the 2630, to me they were not worth the extra money. Of course the 2910 was available when I got the 7800. The only feature I really wanted was the telescoping links which I could have added to my 7800 by buying the parts, but after getting Pat's easy change I didn't see the need for them. I don't see the big deal about the 1/4" valve. I kinda like it once I got used to it. I got the tractor to use and wanted the most machine for the buck and get implements. The money I saved over the 2910 I got some extra implements.
My advice would be to closely evaluate your needs/projects both long term and short term and get the machine that would best fit them. If you only have one or two projects that will require a large machine, it may be best to hire that out instead of getting a machine that will do the job but then be to big for other needs and vice versa. Good luck, take your time and evaluate your needs closely.

Pat's Easy Change, the new Kubota Seat Program and pocket the extra 1800 USD for something else - thats 30% of a backhoe!

My 7800 is a mule, comfortable, reliable and a great value for the price.

Would you suggest that the 2630/3030 isn't any of those things?? Try comparing a 2630/3030 to a JD 2520.

Aren't we blessed to have such a hard choice to make between three excellent tractors such as the 7800/2630/3030 made by an excellent Company such as Kubota!! :)

I know I said I wouldn't go bigger than the 7800 or the 2630........

But I was at the dealer today and he showed me the L3240....... big mistake, I should've just smiled and walked away. Easily twice the machine of the B3030 that was sitting right next to it, and only 1,600.00 more (3,350.00 more than a B7800). HST, R-4's, LA514 loader with QA, delivered to my door $18,750.00.

And it will still fit through my barn door. How can I say "no"?

OK, I guess this is what they call "topic drift". :D Forget the B series, I'm getting a Grand L 3240. As I read and reread past threads, it seams a fairly common denominator is the "trade up" syndrome, and that always costs more money more money more money. So - it will be the L3240 HST with R-4's, LA 514 loader with 66" QA bucket, no mid pto: 18,550.00. Of course I'll have to add a block heater (100.00), load the tires (250.00), and take the factory financing (300.00) which brings the cost to 19,200.00. **** of a lot of tractor for the money.

Then there's still the possibility of the LA 724 loader for "only" 500.00 more....

Get the 724 loader and you'll have a fine package for a very long time. The 724 is a must.....:) :)

Yeah, the 724, definitely. And bucket hooks.

Also.....uhhhh....rear remotes? For the tilt-n-top. Don't think any are included on the GL. You'll need two sets for the full T-N-T. Not cheap. One set, for a hydraulic top link, will probably be sufficient, however. I've not yet found any need for hydraulic tilt.

At least you'll have something that'll easily handle a 5 ft. bush hog. That was my biggest concern with the B2630. Hogging with a 4 footer seems to take forever.

Life without regrets doesn't come cheap.

I agree with the 724 loader especially if it is only $500 more.
Sounds like a fine machine you're getting and its good you went back and read more, because the more research you do the better off you are.

good luck, be careful and have fun!

The 724 is quite a bit more loader than the 514. I'm in the same boat as you. At first I thought I could find something used in good shape for $10k then I found myself looking at the 7800 for $15k (give or take). Now I've talked myself into $20k for a GL. Once you've got to this point a few hundred more doesn't seam so bad, lol.
