I was working in the woods tonight and grappled a log with the BH. This made the front end light enough that I had trouble steering. I noticed that I could use my heel on the hst fwd pedal and push the left wheel brake at the same time. So I unlocked the brake pedals and tried it. I was surprised when it didn't help me turn at all. All it was doing was like dragging the brakes on both wheels. It was just putting a load on the tractor. Has anyone tried this or had different results?

By the way who says you need a thumb on the backhoe!

(It was late and all I had was my cell phone camera.)

I'd say experiment with your split brakes. I'm on my third compact tractor (second Kubota), and i couldn't live without split brakes. Perhaps your brakes need adjustment?

My guess is you must have had your differential lock on. I brake steer my Kubota all the time. If the differential lock was on it would not work.

The differential lock is engaged with a lever on the left side below the seat near the floor. You have to keep it depressed to engage the differential lock, so I doubt that would be the problem.

Other than a serious problem in the differential. I can not think of a single thing that would cause the problem described other than the differential lock being engaged.

I agree about the diff lock. It is the only thing I could think of. I had used it earlier that night, but I had made many manuevers (fwd/rev and turning) since I used it. I am guessing that it must have, or still is, stuck.

If it is stuck, anyone ever have this problem or know how to unstick it?
