Hello everyone...

I'm in the market for a tractor, and came across a couple threads here discussing Kubota's new B2601 model. I was looking at the B2620 previously, but after learning about the B2601 here, I went to the Canadian site and learned more about the 2601. After comparing the two, I decided to call around and get some early pricing information.

Now for my questions:

-I called two dealers, and neither could quote a price. One acted as if they'd never heard of it and seemed completely unaware the model existed. What is the real availability of these in the US? It's odd that it's not on the US website, and the local dealers don't seem overly knowledgeable about them.

-If someone has seen them in the US, are the near the same price point as the B2620?

-Are the upgrades/features of the B2601 worth the wait for these to arrive locally? I think they probably are, but curious for input here, and comparison to the 2620.

My family recently closed on about 60 acres of land and a cabin/deer camp, and that's where the tractor will see most of it's work. I'm intending to get a logging winch for it for cutting firewood, site/road work, small food plot work, and home snow removal in the winters. The B series 26 hp. is a nice compromise for me to have adequate power and weight, but still be small enough to trailer to the new property.

I apologize for all the questions in the first post, I just got the feeling the the 2601 was the right tractor after reading about them, and was a bit deflated talking to local dealers and hearing their lack of knowledge and/or info.

Thanks for any input and answers!

Welcome to TBN. I believe someone here recently bought a 2601 in the US, so do a forum search and see if you can find their post -- it would have been within the last 1-2 weeks if I still remember. It was between a 2601 and 2620 for that fellow as well. I think the 2601 has a couple extra nice features -- like position control -- that make it worth the upgrade.

I had a B2920, which is a 2620 with 3 more HP, and it was a great tractor. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another Kubota B series if I was in the market for that size machine.

I have a B2301 ordered and my dealer said delivery should be around first week of March. He had price info and all the specs ect. Sounds like the dealers you talked to need to check out the internet from time to time. The upgrades on this tractor are great, it will replace my B2320.

Still waiting for it to arrive at my dealer so I can decide between it and the B2650 cab. Supposed to be here by the end of the month I think? They got the loaders in for them already, but no tractor yet.

The price looks awfully close to a B2650, why not go with some extra capability for only a little extra $? Unless there's a Canadian price difference i didn't see. Brochure showed $16,300 if I remember correctly. B2650 is $16,600 to start.

If I were to trade my B2620 on a B2601 I can keep my 51"snowblower, but the B2650 is wider and I would have to get a wider blower (or put wings on mine which I don't like.)

My big decision though is.....I prefer open station, hence the B2601......but there are times in the winter I wish I had a cab. So I have to decide which way to go.

Thanks for the welcome and all the responses. LLS, I'm glad to hear of a US dealer ordering an 01 series. Good luck with your purchase. tktom, the prices are different on the Canadian site, I attached the link below.

Products: Power Equipment Kubota Canada Ltd.

I'm going to make a few more phone calls to some more dealers in the area, and maybe some a bit further away as well, just to get a feel for availability.

Thanks all.

Check out Kubotas L 3301. This is the smallest of the L series. I just pulled the trigger on one 3 days ago.

There is an L2501 now -- that is the lowest horsepower L series.

I would hold out for the B2601 because it has position control.

I do like how the Kubota Canada link page is set up where you can just scroll down to see all models and starting prices.

I am also looking for a 2620. Wish I could swing a 2601 but i need to find something used to fit in my budget....

Anyway, I spoke to Barlow (KY) and they have no pricing information or anything on the 2601, said it might be a few months before they get any info let alone machines. Meanwhile multiple dealers in new england have been able to quote me prices on 2601s and I know at least one of them had machines on the lot already.

When I spoke to norfolk power at their RI location about a month ago they had a 2601 they were expecting any day...so they have likely received it by now. I called some NH dealers, cant remember which ones, last week and one of them had a 2601 sitting outside on the lot. I think it depends on what region you are in but I am surprised to hear that in VT you are finding dealers who havent heard of the 2601 or cant quote prices on it yet...

Hi Matt-

Thanks for the response and the information. I only spoke to a couple of local dealerships, and I was also surprised at their responses and lack of information. I'm glad to hear there are some in the area, and I will make a few more calls to some dealers in NH to see what they have to say.

I also remembered reading on here one potential concern/drawback to the 2601 was the 3-point lift capacity on the 2601 seeming to be low. I spent some time closely comparing the 2601, 2620, and 2650 this past weekend. What I discovered is that the lift capacity on the 2601 was shown as being in lbs, but the numbers were actually kg. The spec sheet reports the lift capacity shown in lbs, and kg in parenthesis.... lb (kg). The numbers are actually reversed, so the lift capacity is quite a bit more than shown at first glance. It's reported as 820 (1808) at the lift point, and should read 1808 (820). These numbers are much more in line with what I was expecting, between the 2620 and 2650. Just wanted to let folks know, as its confusing at first glance.

Thanks again Matt for the information.

That is my dilemma! I think the 2650 is the smarter choice. My only worry about the bigger tractor is navigating through woods compared to the smaller setup. Any insight on that?

I had a B2920TLB (same physical size as the B2620) and traded it on a B3300TLB. If your only concern is maneuvering in the woods...and your choice is between the two...I suggest the new B2650. I have a small woods and have been in other tight quarters with the 3300 the same with the 2920 and the room required to maneuver is not much different. And that is with a BH on each unit.

They made a lot of nice upgrades on the 2650 (looks like the same with the 2601), for which they certainly charge. But, IMO, if you prefer the larger machine as you wrote, then I suggest you get it. Otherwise you will be wondering about your choice while it in the woods! In any event, enjoy your tractor search.

If you know of any dealers in New Hampshire - or the New England area that have a B2601 in stock - I'd really appreciate that info. I have a friend who is really interested in the tractor but he'd like to see one in the flesh before putting an order in.
