G'day from Australia fellas.

Firstly, congratulations on a very useful forum. I've been lurking for a while, but this is my first post here.

I wonder if anyone can help me? I currently have a B2410HSD with 4 in 1 loader, 60 inch MMM and various rear end attachments including stick rake, flail mower and rotary hoe. The rear tyres are water filled, and I've got R1 ag tyres all around, with the wheels set to the maximum width possible.

This is my first tractor, and I've had it for around 3 years. I use it to tend to my 6.5 acres, most of which is sloping, and its quite steep in some places. It's been a great little machine for me. I've put about 300 hours on it, and never really felt a great need for more power. However, there are parts of my block where I have to be very careful with the slope. I've never had any really nasty moments, but I've had a few "Ok, that's far enough" moments.

I'm thinking about upgrading to something like a B3030HSD (obviously the rops version) so that I have that little bit more power and weight, plus the ability to run rear hydraulics which I can't currently. From the spec sheet I can see that the B3030 would give me an extra 200mm or so of width, and a wheelbase some 150mm longer. This would suggest a more stable platform, but given the B3030 is taller than the B2410, it must carry its weight that bit higher.

From some or the reviews on this site, I see that a few seem to think the B3030 is a little tippy. These comments seem to apply primarily to the cabin version with the air con mounted up high.

I expect you can see where I'm heading with this......does anyone have any views or experience of the relative stability of a B2410 and B3030 ROPS? I hate to spend the dosh to find I'm no better off from the safety angle. I wouldn't be able to go up to the L series since some of my paths would just be too tight (and given that my path widths are defined by a few 240ft tall trees, I'd have a job moving them!)

I'd most likley run a similar setup on the B3030 of 4in 1 FEL, MMM and rear attachments, but I thought water filled industrial tyres might contribute to a bit of extra stability. This leads to another question though - how much traction do you lose on industrial tyres versus ag tyres? Now that my grass is growing, I don't do too much mud plugging any more, and nor do we get snow. Fromn what I've said, any thoughts on whether industrial tyres would do me ok?

Thanks in advance for any thoughts.

Simon

I don't have much flat area at all around my place, and the B3030 ROPS seems plenty stable on my slopes. It is even surprisingly stable on the slopes with a full bucket and only a rear blade on the back. I have loaded rear tires. I've been able to cross slopes that I didn't think I could, and with a loaded bucket crossing a slope, I can feel when the tractor is getting too tippy, and can react to the situation without ever getting anywhere near the point of messy shorts.

All in all, I'm very impressed with the stability of my B3030. All of my work on this machine has been on hilly terrain, and I am extremely comfortable using it in more situations than I would have otherwise thought I'd be.
