B2320 loses power after 15 min of mowing

B2320 HST 4wd, 650 hours. Never had a problem with it till this last month.

It's happened last 3 times I tried to mow. Grass is low, your typical lawn. Starts fine and begins to mow as it should and then all of the sudden loses power, I disengage mower and decrease throttle and it acts like its about to die but never does. If I try to give it a little more throttle after lowering it it doesn't respond. Have to creep back to the garage. It doesn't sputter, just loses power. Have no clue.

Provide more info - How old is tractor? Stored inside/outside. Un/covered?
Last service?
Last time fuel filter changed? Air filter? etc...
What is your mechanical ability??

Make sure the fuel tank vent isn’t plugged. It may be in the cap.

All filters including fuel filter changed at 400 hours. Was just reading about the fuel tank vent in the cap. I'll change fuel filter and check the cap and go from there. Thanks guys.

Good starting point. There have been many threads on this topic w/r to BX2200, 2300 series machines. As others said it is a "getting fuel to the injection pump" problem.

If the filler cap is open & you eliminate that possible culprit, I suggest looking at 2 or 3 of these other threads where the issue is beaten to death -- and some good ideas put forth. Possibilities I recall include misc. blockage of the exit hole from the tank (leaves, debris, etc.) , the cap being airtight, the filters you have already changed, broken/leaky/cracked hoses,etc. The tank is fairly difficult to get into (or certainly a mess to remove.)

Worst case, devise some sort of a "pint of fuel and hose" directly feeding the injection pump. If it runs without loss of power until that much fuel is exhausted then work your way back toward the tank until you find the obstruction.

Update: Fuel cap was fine; changed fuel filter again and that fixed it. That thing was terribe.

If your filter was black, you will want to get a cleaner to put in the tank that will take out algae.

BAP is right/gave good suggestion. There are several brands of diesel additive now that claim to handle biological growth and contaminants in fuel and fuel tanks. I have to assume the "bio-diesel" fuels are worse yet about that problem but I have no experience with bio-diesel. Having changed the fuel filter a second time (and that seems to have cured the problem) raises the possibility that there was crud in your tank or lines that just came right on in again and quickly fouled the first replacement filter. If that was the case, it may happen all over again.

If it does repeat, you may have to cleanout the tank and flush the lines. Because the tanks are so much trouble to remove on those machines, draining the fuel out via an open line into a container and then flushing the tank and lines may be the best route. With luck you won't need to do any of that.
