I followed this site for a number of years, now its time for my first post.

I have a B2320 that intermittantly cuts out. It seems to do it at random, sometimes when your mowing or just driving through the yard. It acts like there is a seat switch or some other safety causing it to cut out. I have looked for loose wiring and cant't seem to find anything wrong.

Don 't know if this will help, but here goes. I had a similar experience ( brush hog attached ). I had dismounted the tractor the day before. Got on it the next day and it ran fine for 5 feet. Restarted and it did the same thing several times. I got off to look it over .

Turns out the day before I flipped the seat up to keep cats off. When I flipped it back the next day I caught the seat belt buckle partially between the seat bottom and spring support. This caused the safety switch to activate with the slightest weight shift ( and I only weigh a buck 35 ) . Freed the buckle and all was fine .

Sailorman, I have to chuckle a little after I read your post. I also have a neighbors cat that likes to drive the tractor, when I forget to put the seat up. I will have to seat belt tomorrow. It doesn't happen very often, maybe 1/2 dozen times over the last 50 hrs.

If you fastened your seat belt you wouldn't have that problem.:laughing: It has happened to me too.

With my 2920 I was having trouble with it stalling when I was traveling with it. If I let off the HST pedal quick enough, it would not stall. It didn't happen every time I used it and would seem to eventually start going ok. Then one day I could not get it around back. I got off and pushed the safety switch under the seat several times and it worked ok. Every once in awhile I would just lift the seat and push the seat several times figuring the contacts got dirty, moisture, or what ever. Mentioned it to the dealer and they changed it out in warrenty when I had it in there just before the warenty ran out. Anyway, no problem after the first time I pushed the switch several times.

I've checked the seat switch and a few other things. If it ever quits raining around here I'll get some seat time. to do some mowing.

Corrosion on the contacts of the seat switch wouldn't surprise me at all judging by the way it is constructed and the location. You can pull the connectors off and check the resistance of the contacts in the switch (use a digital multi-meter if you have one). You should see a value of nearly zero ohms with the switch closed. I just went and checked mine (2 year old 2620 that's always been stored inside) and the value was approx 1/10 ohm. Another thing to look at is the 2 connectors and the lugs they attach to. As I was just checking mine I noticed the connectors looked a bit funky so I hit them with some corrosion inhibiting spray lube.

If you don't have an ohm meter, you could always pull the connectors and place a jumper between them (just remember, while testing in this manner, you don't have the 'dead man switch' function). Use the tractor for a while and see if the problem occurs again.

I have a B2920... Mowed the other day, shut off tractor for a break, and it wouldn't start again. Checked all the obvious stuff, seat safety switch, pto lever, etc.... then went inside and Googled for "my kubota won't start".... And found the answer, the hst pedal is a little out of adjustment.... Pressed it forward and backward, and then it started right up. I had noticed that it sticks/hesitates a little when you release it, makes sense now, I just never realized there was a cut off there. This may or may not be your problem, but just thought I'd mention it and save someone else the aggravation!

Yeah I had the same problem with the 2620. It did it once in a while at first, then a lot, then finally it would not start even when pressing the pedal forward and backward. I had to adjust the HST pedal switch which is not fun. You need to loosen a big lock nut with a big open end wrench that holds the switch in position. In order to get the wrench in there you need to remove the right rear tire, lots of fun if you have loaded tires. Hopefully that is not your problem. It would usually happen when I would get off the tractor. It would stall as the seat came up but it was not the seat switch but rather the HST pedal switch. The pedal was sticking a little so the system thought that the tractor was moving forward without an operator. The two switches work together.
