I'm looking at a B2150 w/ a LA351 FEL & 60" belly mount mower. It has 1330 hours & AG tires that I would guess are at 70% for the rears & 50% for the fronts. Overall appearance is OK - some dings & faded paint, but does not look like it's been abused/neglected. The tractor is at a Kubota dealer who seems like a pretty decent dealer. He is asking $8600 for the tractor & I do not think that he will come down much. Is that a decent price?

Great tractor I would say one of the best 24hp tractors Kubota built. Price don't sound to bad, if you it fits your needs go for it you will be saving a ton over new.

I would say $8600+tax for a potentially 20yr old B xx50 series tractor is too highly priced in any condition. That loader is not stock for that tractor, it had to be modded to fit. 2150s were very popular tractors and I see them regularly for sale w/loaders for less than 7k. Just my asked for opinion.

Do a search on tractor house and they list 12. Makes it look like a very good price. I have one with belly mower and love it. Check the condition of deck (gauge wheels brackets etc, they get pricey). I have the 72 inch deck and often times wish I had the 60 inch. I also have a B2910 and you can see where some things were made less expensive. Sometimes older is better.

I certainly agree with this statement. In my opinion this is the last model with a decent hydrostat. Not to mention it has the 4 cylinder engine too.

Brain would you mind elaborating on this subject. ( last decent hydro-stat, 4 cyl engine) do you have any opinions about the newer loaders? And what year was this tractor made ?

My experience is that the hydrostats after the Bxx50 series don't hold up as well outside of a homeowner environment. If you are putting 50 hours a year on one of these machines you will probably never notice a difference. The environments I'm referring to, are where customers put 50 hours a month on their machines. The later Bxx00's (like the B1700, B2100, B2400) and Bxx10's (like the B2410, B2710, B2910) aren't as well built. I don't have any experience with the newer Bxx30 series machines. The hydrostats in the earlier machines, like the B7100's, B6200-9200's and B1550-1750's seemed to hold up better in my opinion. This is only my opinion, I don't have any empirical evidence to back this up, just my repair experience.

I don't remember years. We never refer to years in any of the literature involving these machines. Let me see, I left the last dealer I worked at, at the end of 2000. The Bxx10's hadn't been out that long, the Bxx00's had a short production life. So I would guess they were built mostly in the early to late 90's.

Well put, I would say the newer series is not as bullet proof but still great tractors that my be a little more user friendly. The old ones were able to handle the worst operators in the world.
