B2100 HST

Well, stranger things have happened, I guess. Went to the dealer on Saturday for fluids and filters for my B2100 HST and getting out of the truck the lady said " I think we need a bigger tractor with a backhoe". When I came to, I checked the date and it wasn't April 1st, then I saw her gravitate to a 2910. So while the dealer sharpens his pencil, I'm curious as to just what my lil ole machine is worth. It's a 1999
(bought new 11/25/99) B2100 HST, turf tires, Woods DuAl 145 loader w/toothbar, 260 hours on the clock. I'm located in western PA (Pittsburgh area).

I'm going to try and cause some more confusion here for you...

I'm not sure, but I'm thinking that the backhoe for the B2910 would also fit your B2100. If so, then you could also consider purchasing the backhoe now and upgrading tractors later if the B2100 performance isn't sufficient. The main conflict that I can think of is that the backhoe may require a different ROPS for the B2100 and/or the B2910. Your dealer should be able to confirm or deny what I am saying.

Actually I was looking at a Brushhog bh the dealer had there for the 2100 when the lady discovered the 2910. My biggest concerns on putting one on my Bee is overtaxing the equipment. I know it'll work its tail off, but sometimes bigger is better. The one there was mounted on a 7500, ROPS clearance was a tad tight, and I could see wacken the back of the noggin if the machine jerked, but being 5'9" and 165 it wasn't all that bad. My other concern is the subframe seemed to come pretty far down below the housing, and coupling that with the turf tires I'm running, I'll loose a good bit of ground clearance. On the positive side though, it'll add some good under carriage armour.

Sounds like you have the bases covered.

I thought that you were looking at a Kubota backhoe, but that's not important for the decision of "keep the B2100" versus "upgrade to B2910".

You have inspired me to start a new post on "Off Brand FELs and Backhoes" to solicit advice on whether to stick with OEM equipment or not.

Now this is getting down right spooky. The new 2910/FEL/BH was delivered two weeks ago. Last weekend I take the lady back to the dealer with me to pick up the buyback check for the old B2100. After I'm bs'ing there for awhile with the owner she comes jammin' across the lot in a Kawasaki 4x4 Mule with the owners son. It's red, and she really, really, really likes it and has a thousand uses for it...etc, etc.
It's being delivered next weekend.
Now in addition to pet stores, I gotta quit takin' her to the Kubota dealer!

Dave, don't forget to have them put that hardtop canopy on the Mule; makes a neat rolling scaffold when you have to work up high, besides the shade when you're working in the sun. And you sure don't want to forget the power dump on the bed. When my brother had his, we moved a lot of dirt by loading the Mule with the B2710./w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif I can tell you all kinds of ways to spend your money./w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif
