I have searched for B21 specific threads about this issue but really did not find any. Mine is leaking from the right front axle after it turns down behind the wheel. Are B21 series different then others? Can anyone direct me to an thread regarding the issue on a B21? Thanks in advance.

View attachment B21 Front Wheel Housing.pdfView attachment B21 Front Axle Parts List.pdfYou can find the parts lists for B21 on line at Messicks Tractor and here are two PDF's of the front axle parts. I don't know what other models share the same parts but the B21 are typically more HD components than a similar B series.

Usually they don't leak unless bearings are going, or there is damage / breakage. As far as a fix, they aren't terribly complicated, and parts are available so I would isolate the leak and take it apart and see if its bad bearings or just a seal.

Thanks for the PDF's. I have the parts manual and the shop manual. I actually broke down the tractor a few years ago to change the clutch. I've seen youtube videos of guys not removing the whole axle assembly, only the bevel gear housing and changing the oil seal Part 60 in the PDF. But I'm not sure which Series tractor the guys working on. Is it possible to do it on the tractor?

"Is it possible do it on the tractor - of course what else would you do it on?"

So to do part 60 you need to remove part 10 (and the wheel housing first) - I haven't looked at mine today, but that's what it looks like, and if you have split your machine this is an easy fix!

I used to split tractors replace clutches - they were easy, and then Case 580 BH - they were a chore.

Can anyone tell me if this seal is removable? It does not show in the parts manual or in the shop manual. Part #60 seal would rest against it. Is part 60 a two piece seal????

it doesn't appear to be a two piece seal - from the pics it looks like there is another bearing - per the parts list it shows two circlips and I only see the bottom one.

I would call Messicks in the AM and ask them - attached is a pic of the seal.

Apparently the seal was torn into two pieces clean. waiting for new seal.

Post pics when you get it and the removal and reinstall too, then the final test - running w/o leaks. Posting the fix with new seal in place helps everyone on here.

Thanks

Unfortunately I did not take pictures when reassembling but here are a few pictures of the broken oil seal. In the Youtube link above the guy states it is a two piece seal. That maybe the case on a BX, but not on a B21. I did have to apply heat to the seal on the axle to remove it for about 10 seconds. The new seal gets placed into the housing first then onto the reminding section left on the tractor. Wasn't a difficult job just make sure the collar set stays in place when reattaching.
