Hi all.

I have a new Branson 3510i that hasn't seen 50 hours yet. The farmer that tills our property has agreed to sell me off-road diesel at his cost, cash and carry.

The other day I picked up 15 gal (5gal went right into tractor) at $4.11 gal.
Later on that night, he called me to let me know that he'd received B-5 (5%) Biodiesel the last time around, just in case it made a difference to me or the tractor.

Since I live in WI, I suppose that I shouldn't use it in sub-zero temps, but otherwise will it hurt anything???

Thanks for any/all help!

Hi all.

I emailed Branson, from their website, at 9:12A CST.

Believe it or not, I received a response from them at 9:27A CST.

Here's their response:

Mr. ****

Thank you for buying Branson. We are happy that you are enjoying your tractor. We make every effort to supply a good product and service.

Our tech person told me that you should be fine using the Bio-diesel. You should not have any problems with it.

Please let me know if I can help you with anything else.

I had asked specifically about possible damage / Warranty Issues that may arise.

Needless to say. This email's going to be printed out and saved...

Thanks.

* My cousin buys a 55 gallon drum of Home Heating Oil from his next door neighbor whenever he needs fuel for his tractor.
* * * How do you get the fuel from the farmers place to your place?
How do you store it and fill your tractor with it?

LBrown59,

I'll probably only use 70-100 gallons per year. The farmer lives 1/4 mile from me. I just call him, throw my 3 cans in the back of the truck, and go fill 'em up.

I figure that his high usage, combined with a modern fuelling facility at his place, will assure me fresh fuel when I need it. Besides - It gives me a chance to shoot the bull for an hour or so when I visit - He's a great guy. They farm a couple thousand acres or so.

Branson's have their fuel tank located underneath the operator's platform, so the fill neck is only about 2' off the ground. It's really not much of a hassle at all to fill from a 5 gal can.

This also allows me to have a minimal amount of $ tied up in fuel that's just sitting around...

I have a 30 gallon drum with a 12v pump.
I get my off road delivered 55 gallon at a time.
I have the delivery guy fill the 55 gallon spare drum not the 30 gallon drum.
I transfer the fuel from the 55 gallon drum to the 30 gallon drum with the pump as needed.
When the 55 gallon drum is emptied I call the fuel guy and order another fill up of the 55 gallon drum.
I'm estimating 55 gallon will last me a year or less.
I'm running it in a BX23 and 2 BX1500 tractors.
Avoiding the 5 gallon can routine makes the pump and drum well worthwhile for me even if i didn't save any money on the cost per gallon of fuel.

True enough but it also does or can subject you to more frequent price increases,
