Axle extenders??

I don't mean to beat a dead horse BUT: still looking at options for widening my rear wheels.. Has any one used or have any experience with axle extenders?? Pro or Con?? Any risk to tractor damage??thanks /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

No experience here. But the more you extend the wheels, you will progressively add more stress to the axles and bearings. A couple inches probably would be fairly insignificant. If your tractor is still under warranty, make sure doing so would not void the warranty.

Maybe you need to think of some way to add t "training Wheels" or something like they use when testing rollover limits with cars. Extend the wheels to "help" prevent rollover, run them in when on flat land. And if it is just for mowing, take a look at the PT tractors, some of them can handle a lot of slope.

If you look at the Unverferth site they also sell wheel extenders.

I suspect he refers to Power Track. There is a forum for them. I belive the PT owners have many many many more good things to say about their PT than they do negative. (if any negative at all)

In my case I had to fabricate my own. Used an old section of 8" pipe for the spacer and welded a couple of flanges on the pipe for bolting. I spaced them so that I could get my hand in between the tires in case I needed to add air. You don't need the second set of wheels and tires as you can bolt the spacer right to the hub of your tractor and hang the tire on the outer flange.
