eBay/Craigslist Avoiding Ebay police. Any suggestions?

I'd like to list my 2210D on ebay. I have listed it locally, on equipment trader, and various other internet classified listing locations. I haven't got any interest in it at all. Has anyone every sold there Yanmar on Ebay? Are there ways to get around their anti grey policies?

On another note, I will be dropping the price $100-$150 dollars per week in my other thread until it is sold. I never imagined having such a difficult time in selling it, especially at the price I have it listed at. It is a fine tractor.

My suggestion, just don't use the word Yanmar in the title. Maybe in the body you can explain that it has a Yanmar engine or drivetrain or something. Or put in a link to an offsite place that has the complete description?

Sometimes, if you're not getting the price you think is fair, maybe it's better to hold on to a piece of equipment rather than "give" it away?

As they say in the car bidness, there's a "butt for every bucket", especially if the price gets cheap enough........

One thing i see people doing is omitting the word "Yanmar" from their ad, so it cannot come up in a search of Yanmar by the Ebay police. Use wording like Japanese tractor, or something similar. You will still be able to avoid questions on what brand it is by clearly showing the Yanmar decals on the hood (assuming they are still there). I would also advise you to not drop your price too much...... it may look like you are unloading it because it has a problem. Be patient..... the right person just hasn't come across it yet. You are doing the right thing by listing in several places though..... to me that is better money spent than having it one place and reducing the price.

I know this is apples to oranges, but i had my antique truck for sale online all summer without a serious bite on it. One trip to a car show and i had a guy hook, line , and sinker. I got what i wanted for it, even though i was considering taking much less. It just took the right person to see it for sale.

It is a Zen-noh labeled Yanmar, so maybe avertise it as a Zen-noh YM2210D would work.

I bought my Zennoh (Kubota) off of Ebay without any problems. If I recall it explained that Zennoh was a farming co-op and that the tractor was made by Kubota for them in the body of the text. So I think you will be fine if you leave it off the title.

You might also ask the interested parties to email you with questions regarding the tractor so you can go into more details without posting them for the POlice to see.

The main thing is to avoid 'Yanmar' being found by an automated search.

The optional second line of the title isn't found in an ebay search, so you can put 'Yanmar motor' or something there and it won't pop up in Yanmar's trademark cops daily search. Call it a Popular Japanese Tractor in the auction title.

Since their legal interest is unauthorized use of their name, simply don't use it.

Also I think a nice photo is safe.

But what about craigslist.org? I think that has suddenly become the best way to sell anything to locals, especially a tractor where any reasonable buyer will inspect before purchase. You can put it in several nearby regional craigslists. Be sure to include a picture, or reference one online somewhere.

Long story. Yanmar has the legal right to control ALL use of that trademark and they use it to request ebay to close gray-Yanmar auctions. Google on 'VERO ebay'.

It's not an "anti-gray" policy, it's an "anti-gray Yanmar" policy.

I just checked out the "VERO" list on Ebay. Stunning. This is the
first I have heard of Yanmar taking action thru Ebay to limit the
selling of their domestic machines. I notice that Kubota, Mits, etc
are not listed (yet). I know these companies fight the grey mkt
tractor importation, but I find Ebay's policy in this case quite
troubling.....
