Can anyone tell me what this hole in the housing is there for? It’s dripping hydraulic fluid like a faucet that needs a new gasket or money going out the window like Bidenomics. 😵‍💫 6 volt VW Buses and dirt bikes I know a little about but tractors!!! Clueless.

I looked for information on your tractor. None of the parts places shows an L295 with power steering, even as an option. Maybe it was retrofitted from another model? Can you read any info off those tags? I think the hole is just a vent or tell-tale, not supposed to be plugged. I'm guessing the cylinder needs repacking, is there a hydraulic shop nearby?

After some more sleuthing I found that Kubota offered a dealer option L9110 for the L295. Messick's has a parts breakdown, but parts are NLA. You might be able to use standard o-rings, etc. Howe and others also made retrofit kits for these old tractors.

Could only find these numbers. No manufacturer. On the hunt now to find a shop that works on such things. Appreciate the help so far.

My guess that hole is to just let you know you have a leak in
the steering control box.

Took it to a hydraulic shop, replaced all seals and now working great.
