In 20 years of having an auger, I never thought of doing this. I can see how it would make it easier to install it if it wasn't hanging from something.

This is what I love about TBN. New ideas and ways to do things.

When I got the PHD it came disassembled strapped to a pallet. I assembled it onto the tractor the first time I used it. When I was done I didn't know what to do so I just reversed the process.

Ours has always been hung by a chain on a low branch of an oak tree. A piece of bailing wire holding the tractor end of the drive shaft to the main shaft of the PHD.
