I have a 99 king quad, awsome little quad. When I change the oil for the first time (I bought it used) I found it to be overfilled by about a quart. The manual says 3.8 quarts of oil. When I changed it I had to put in 4 quarts to get the oil between the lines on the sight glass. After starting the quad the oil compleetly disapears from view and after stoping it takes a bit to return to the location between the fill and add lines.

I know the oil moves around when running but is the above normal? Seems I need to add more oil to get it to the full mark insted of halfway between full and add.

Have a 2000 arctic cat 400 I think the manual calls for 3.5 quarts of oil (doesn't show in sight glass) and it takes 4 quarts to bring oil up to the full mark on the sight glass.

It is normal for the oil to disappear from the sight glass when an engine is running.
Always check oil level 2-5 min after you shut the engine off and with the machine on level ground.
As far as oil quantity that maybe a question for a Suzuki mechanic. Not many are over the specified amount but with a filter change as well as changing the oil the amount sometimes differs. If you are at the high mark after the change you are always good.
The reason for the high and low mark is the company wants you to fill it to the high mark at each change interval, with the hope that by the next change it hasn't used enough oil that it is lower than the low mark. Just a safety factor for those who don't check their oil levels often enough.
