Where are you harvesting the barnacled piling LOG's from ?

we had to change out some piles in western washington. brought few home for a retaining wall.

Ireally like that.Ive gathered materials to build one,you have one of the nicest ive seen...not big and bulky.How does the log tongs hold on rough ground,does it come unhooked? Anything you mught do different?Is that just a basic boat winch?

yes, just a boat winch, you can pick one up for under 30 bucks.

with tongs size matters. If too small a log they will slip off and chains or a couple of small cable chokers would be better. Thing is about any job, you have to adjust to what you are dealing with. tongs are great for one log, nice size that fits well, but with multiples a few chokers make it easy.
