Attachments - Buy Once, Buy Right... Question

I am about to purchase a John Deere 5045E with a 553 loader and have been researching attachments. I have been considering the Frontier RC2072 rotary cutter, Frontier BB2065 box blade, and a Frontier AV20 series root grapple.

I typically always prefer to buy once / buy right. I would rather spend a little more in the beginning to get the best piece of equipment versus buying the wrong piece first/cheaper and ending up buying the best/more expensive piece of equipment in the end.

My question to you all is; what other after market brands should I be considering before the Frontier attachments, if any?

Landpride for the blade, Bushhog, Landpride or dozens of others for the mower, not sure about the root grapple, but there's a few different brands out there like Millonzi.

I never thought much of buying the same name implements, like a brand loyalty thing. In your case, you're considering all Frontier. Many attachment manufacturers "specialize" in certain implements. Very few make the best of all implements. There's nothing I hear bad about Frontier, but they certainly don't build the best of everything.

Perhaps you have a dealer offering you a great deal for buying a package of several Frontier implements.....

If you want a heavy duty boxblade look at the Frontier BB1284, I like the Deere MX6 cutter and the root grappel I would consider buying elsewhere such as Markham Welding makes nice ones.

You might consider looking at the International line of implements. Also, Monroe-Tufline makes some quality implements. I'll second Landpride as well, had a 4ft bush hog and it was tough as nails. Gill makes quality stuff too.

All though there many good attachment makers I consider Bush Hog, Woods, and Land Pride among the best. That's all they do and have been doing it a long time. I live on the Ohio/Indiana border and the state mowing crews use some Bush Hog mowers but mostly Woods mowers. The county I live in uses mostly Woods also.

The BB2065 box blade is too small for that size of tractor. Go wider than the rear tires. Go at least 72" and my preference would be in the 80-84" range.

Just to clarify, Millonzi is no longer making ANYTHING! They are out of business.

But I agree Markham or WR Long is a great choice for grapple or other FEL implements.

Also, A lot of the Frontier stuff is actually made by Woods.

I bought a used Frontier 5ft disc harrow and I'm pretty sure the disc's have tufline stamped on them. Could it have been built by Monroe-Tufline?

Sure. Frontier does not "make" anything, it is just a brand name marketed by John Deere.
