Does anyone know what the hydraulc pressure is on the lines coming in and out of the cooler next to the radiator? I am thinking for adding an additional cooler but I need to know what the pressure is so I can order the right cooler. Thanks

You'll find that most oil-to-air heat exchangers are nominally rated at ~200 psig, and that heat exchangers are very unlikely to serve full system operating pressure. Ideally, they would be located in the circuit DOWNSTREAM of the filters which, except for the charge filter, are located in the very low pressure return circuit.

I forgot to ask why you want to add an additional heat exchanger. Is your oil temp consistently running too high? Are your Δ-T's too far apart? What is your reason? Oil releases particles held in suspension best when it is hot, not to mention flow characteristics, too cool of oil isn't good. Have you compared temp readings with a mechanical gauge? There may be underlying reasons for alleged high oil temps that won't be addressed by the addition of another heat exchanger.

The hydraulic cooler and radiator are right next to each other. When running my high flow hydraulics to the max my engine temp goes to 220 degrees F. I added a mechanical gauge and it says close to the same reading. Adding a cooler should help reduce both temps.

My high flow pressure is about 3900psi, but that's at the mulching head, not on the return lines that go through the filters. I am looking at this one

Oil Cooler 12 VDC 4-50 GPM 0.48 HP

It's rated at 377 psi

So then air flows through the oil cooler before the radiator.

True, somewhat. You want to be careful to not over-cool the oil though. What are you using for engine coolant?

Nice unit. It draws 29 amps when in operation. What size is your alternator and battery capacity?

The guys at the site below offer a roof mounted oil cooler. I haven't priced it. I have the same problem you describe only I'm guessing on a smaller HP machine. I am just runing a saw and a brush mower/rotary cutter. Both give me trouble with engine coolant overheating when the summer temps are in 90- 100 degree range. Recently had a fan blade go through my radiator and had it retubed to a 4 row instead of the factory supplied 2 row. Haven't had a chance to run it in high ambient temps since but I hope this cures some of my problem.

That's a sweet looking unit, but only 5+ gpm?? Did I miss something? Is it only partial flow?
