I was thinking the same thing. Kinda like cutting the roast the wrong way. The wife will never let you cut one again.

Let it go to seed. then next year wahla. kinda gross maybe... the first time ya pee after eating asparagus it makes your pee smell like asparagus...i think its prety cool its the toxins in asparagus that your body doesn't absorb.

I have a bed of asparagus that was planted in 1983. It's been very productive. Never cut after the first of June here. We let it run up and don't do anthing to it until around Feb. Then we burn the bed off. If it's cut down after June 1st while it's green it cuts way back on production the next year.

Asparagus likes cow manure and lots of it right on top of the bed. We apply the manure in Oct.
