I suppose RK will be the deathnell to retail store branded tractors

I struggle with the concept.

So a store brand approaches a tractor manfacturer. Hey, we wanna sell your tractors but brand them with our logo? The manufacturer says what's in it for me? The store says we'll pay you a profitable margin on each unit and we'll agree to purchase "said amount" of units. Manufacturer says okay, it's a deal. Store realizes there's much more to this than we realized..... Deal falls apart.... some gnashing of teeth between manufacurer and store. But they survive....

Now we get to the purchaser of said product. Where does this failed business proposition leave them? Will the manufacturer honor warranty claims of these "branded" tractirs? Will the store do everything it can to ensure purchaser is taken care of? What happens to purchaser if they just walk away?

These deals always scare me. I don't like rebranding at all!!! I don't even like it when a major brand buys components from someone else.

If you are gonna brand a tractor "Acme" then every component should be produced by Acme.

As I said before. I hope for the best and expect the worst.

As I mentioned a while back, Doug (RK Tractor Guy) is no longer with RK. I was told that by the local tractor rep around the end of July. This past weekend I was talking to him and I asked if he ever heard what happened to Doug. He said they came in one morning and there was a corporate email that said remove Doug so an so from your email contacts because he is no longer with us and we wish him the best in his new endeavor. He said that Doug had a lot of years in the tractor market and was working for John Deere when RK got him. I did look forward to his responses on this site.

The success of a tractor brand should never be on the shoulders of one person.

Doug's departure should have no impact on the brand.

His name isn't hard to find and it seems he was running McCormick Tractors at one time.

"Doug" was apparently in charge of the burgeoning RK tractor program.
When leadership of any business (or division) departs, major disruption may occur.
Boeing changed corporate leadership ten(+?) years ago, when Alan Mulally left.
Check to see which direction Boeing has been going since.

Absolutely correct. I would guess that 99.99% of all potential RK shoppers never heard of Doug, or visited this forum.
