Artic CAT 250 Problem

A friend of mine has an Artic Cat 250 he tells me that the engine runs fine but it will not go forward , he said it will act like it is trying to move then it quits moving completely.
What to do ? Any ideas of where to start trouble shooting ?

Will it backup. If so then that eliminated the clutches and the rear end as trouble issues. That just leaves the transmission. Will it move in say second gear but not first. Just trying to narrow down if it effects one gear or all forward gears.

Most likely a belt drive machine.... Belt worn? Clutch engaging when it spins up...

My Arctic Cat 300 had a three range shifter in addition to foot shifter. Perhaps it's not fully engaged in high or low?
