Wow! That's great! It reinforces my belief that tractor owners (and country people in general) are more resourceful than the average!

Thank god for neighbors. It looks like they have a supply of boats bringing in sand bag after sand bag. I wonder how he's doing today. I wonder what it'll look like once the water goes down. The worse thing is, for all his work saving his house he'll get nothing while those with flood insurance will collect.

whos to say he wont? ask FEMA or insurance to cover $2000 worth of fuel for the tractor and trackhoe to make/fill in the moat and its peanuts compared to the 100K they would have paid out.

Who says he has insurance... I have it an it's very expensive. I say good for him on trying, and having the means to be able to help himself...

Excavation permit? Silt fence? Fine?

A for effort. I'm wondering if he has a well, or septic system. The buildings don't look all that old and I wonder why you wouldn't build at least your house in the flood plain on elevated piers or similar. Doesn't work for a shop/garage building but at least his house would be safe.
Dave.

I would rather save my house than get a check. . . lots of memories their. I also don't think insurance will pay a dime for what he's done or for what he saved them. I had a tree split during a storm and was going to hit my house, called the insurance company and told them thinking they would remove it. Nope not unless it hit the house and because it didn't i was now responsible to have it removed before it does.

What i would like to know is how much fuel he is using an where he has it stored. . . i heard it could be a week before the water recedes.

Great video. and great job.
