Ariens 18 hp 934 Series

My friend has an Ariens 18 hp 934 Series lawn tractor. He bought it used. It is a hydrostatic set up. He has lots of power in reverse but no power forwrad. Fluid looks clean but fliter is old looking.

Any thoughts? Also any chance one of you kind folks has a pdf file of service manual forthis unit/

Just wondering if the linkages have been checked or there is a forwar/reverse adjustment somewhere?

Et al,

Finally got around to servicing mower. Complete hydro oil change plus filter. Unbelieveable
power increase - all for 19.95 plus our time.

I spoke too soon!

Called my friend to see how his day was regarding mowing. Tractor ran fine for 2+ hours. He completed his mowing and lost power on his way to barn. We are going to drain oil and try a new filter again.

Looks like the original filter was not change in years. We figure we are just getting the sludge out of the pump. Belt/linkage to pump is fine. Has lots of power in reverse but looses power forward.

Will keep you posted.
