Are you still using a land line ?

I would love to have a cell phone, problem is i would not be able to make a call from my place because absolutely zero coverage. I would have to drive about 8 miles to get a signal. And the satellite phones I understand are totally out of my reach financially.:(

Still have a land line, with no inte tions of getting rid of it. Cell is for emergencies only. Still places up here where there is no reception.

Our home phone is through the cable provider. I battled with ATT for months trying to get them to fix the phone line. Every time it rained we had terrible static on the line. AT&T could not fix the problem so we went to a cable based phone. Just last week my wife called to have the home phone disconnected but the cable company said we had a bundle package, cable, Internet, phone, and that our bill would increase if we canceled phone service. So for now we will leave the home phone. I never answer the home line because everyone I know calls my cell.

Ditched the land line over 2 years ago when I no longer needed to FAX for work. Don't miss it. Using my cell to check out TBN right now.

How do you operate your computer on a cell phone.?

It is pretty easy (and fast too!) A lot of the new "smart" cell phones will make a "hotspot" for Wifi so that up to 5 of your WiFi equipped computers can connect to this hotspot and the phone then communicates back over either the 3G or 4G (best) cellular network to take you to the internet. My wife's 4G Motorola razor is faster than the 10M service we have over Cable.

I haven't had a land line since 1999. My wife and I each have a cell. I can tether my computer from my cell from internet access on the road. I also use magic jack VOIP for international calls. Works great and way more flexible than a land line.

All my customers use my cell phone also.

My family all has cell phones for when we are out and about, but we mostly use the land line when we are home...

We are completely off grid - no lines or pipes to any utility.

I had the same problem... my phone line always had problems and was worse when it rained... tried to get DSL and was outside the service area... this was in the 90's.

One day I get a postcard with a sign up special for ATT DSL saying it is available for my address... so I jump on it. The poor service techs had a really hard time... ended up having to run a new line 15 poles just to get me DSL to work... the bonus is my phone line is now perfect... ;-)

The tech said I should have never been sent the card but since I was... they had to make it work.

Still have a landline. Coverage is spotty for cellular. I have antenna's for additional help.

Being in the high-tech corridor we are in, I am amazed of lack of true broadband. I have multiple fiber-trunks running across the road from me. Cable, maybe 5 miles out, DSL, less than two miles.

We still have a land line and each of us have a cell. The reception is not quite good enough to drop the land line. Our business has a land line but I keep the number forwarded to my cell because I kept missing calls due to being out in the nursery. I even use it 90% of the time for tbn

I have a LL at the house. A cell phone rigged in with 'hands free' in the 4 wheeler and the company I work for gives me a cell for the big truck also rigged with 'hands free'. I also have a data card for both my laptop (good all over Ontario, no LD charges) and my PC.

I went cell-only about two years ago and haven't missed the LL at all. YMMV.

Land line only, no cell. I have an answering machine, if it's important someone can leave a message. I have no desire to be reachable anytime anywhere (assuming there's even coverage).

Looked at a Craigslist ad yesterday, said at the bottom, "Texts only, don't look at my emails or answer unknown calls."

What a joke. I couldn't contact him. Wouldn't want to, with that attitude. If you ant to sell something,it might just take a tad bit of effort on your part....

I'm with you, that's sad. I don't get texting...I'm sure I could figure out how to do it if I tried, but I have no interest in communicating via 2 letter abbreviations.

Of course we still have a land line.

What if I need to call 911 and the cell phone is in the car, or it's in the creek, or its in the washing machine, or the battery is run down.

This made me think of another question. How many still have hard wired phones. We have a set of 4 cordless Panasonic phones, but they don't work if the electricity goes off. So we still have one hardwired phone and the only time it's been used is to report power outages.:D We could report them with a cell phone, but it's quicker and simpler if you do it from the phone number they have listed for the address.
