Well, the F16's for MIG29s makes a heck of a lot more sense than the original program.

Later,
Dan

For some vehicles it was a smart program, while for others it was very bad.

Pros, got some of the un-safe vehicles off the road. (y)

Cons, got some of the classic vehicles and hard to find parts more rare than ever.

Con: U.S. taxpayers got the tab for a program that subsidized the purchase of foreign vehicles. 🤬
Yeah that was the REAL “con”. Lol

It caused the used car market to explode in price too. Kept my 'clunker' and sold it later on.

My mini-rant is that tv stopped broadcasting the show Cuban Chrome. Wonder what happened to those classic cars after they was able to replace them?

My suggestion on supplying war plans to foreign countries is selling Russia planes as sorry and difficult to find parts for as the tractors they sold us.:devilish:

That's the American way.

I have to say that what was even worse was the high price paid for scrap metal 15 years ago. I saw a lot of things going to the scrap yard which were still usable, it was just quick money to send it to the crusher.
Also a lot less apt to get caught, as a lot of what went to the junkyard didn't belong to the sellers.
