Are those starlings?

You shoot at anything in South Bend and you'll get return fire. And a visit from the police in about 60 seconds... they have the Spotshotter system and it works really well. ;)

I'm sure that kind of thing is necessary in cities but I'm glad I don't live anywhere close to that.

I live just outside it, but I have to travel through it at least twice per day.

What ever the heck you got down there to eat starlings, maybe we need some of those.. Starlings are a real plague in a lot of areas here in the Midwest.

Be careful what you wish for James... I remember well the huge flocks of starlings when I lived in Victoria, BC. They crapped so much and with such toxicity that vehicle paint was ruined!

mapper may have hit on why Aus doesn't have a big problem with them though = ravens. We've got quite a selection of Raven, Currawong and Australian Magpie that are possibly doing the trick. Plus a number of other 'larger than a starling' birds that may be keeping their numbers down due to being territorial, such as Kookaburra and various types of Cockatoo.

I wouldn't want to wish a mob of Sulphur Crested Cockatoos on anyone. LOUD screeching and destructive... they're quite intelligent and get bored (yes, bored) so they'll start stripping tree limbs, and then the eaves of houses & outbuildings!
