I have ran them on the front of my JD 4400 with R-1 tires,the R-4 tires are a little wider. The big thing you have to be careful with is make sure the chains are tight and stay tight,if they get loose you can do some damage on your front axle by getting them caught on your tractor axle misc. You will get excellent traction,I have ran them on the front of my Chevy 4x4 and you can really go.
