Do they block out enough sun to justify the cost? Also do you feel they might be a hazard in case of a roleover? Anyone try making one? Thanks

Get a canopy, your skin will thank you in 20 years.

How come when you take a pic of your tractor, your lawn always looks so darn good :D

Fertilizer, fertilizer, fertilizer, my wife says I'm full of it. :D

Putting the boom sprayer to work, too Bob.

anything that protects you from the elements is a good thing. My last two tractors have been cab machines, curtis and factory. I wouldnt buy a tractor without a cab.

I really like my canopy. It is solid steel and has stopped many a falling branch from hitting my head in the woods. It keeps the sun off my bald head and works well in a light rain and snow, too. Of course, my legs still get wet, but the core of my body and head stay dry.

I too really like my canopy - it makes working these hot days bearable. I also like it keeping rain and the occasional limb off my head.

It is factory mounted on the ROPS, so there is not an issue there.

Now that I know what its like to have one, I would come up with the money for one if I ever bought another tractor.

I love mine, but, if you have to fold the ROPS it is taller folded unless you get a sunshade that also removes/folds. I plan on welding/bolting on steel down tubes to the front supports so i will have an open cab/cage. This will keep the ROPS from ratling and give more support in case of a roll, + gimmie a place to mount lights.

You bet they are. I made this one from some 3/4" tubing, ply and some pine. Pinnted, 4 holes drilled in the corners for water drainage and so far has taking a beating. Shade is a good thing. No way I could put lights and such on mine. My L likes to play in the woods to much cutting trails for ATV's and such. It sleeps after dark to. :)

I've had my canopy now for 3 or 4 weeks. I love it. It has made the mowing task so much more tolerable. Don't get me wrong, it is still hot when it is 95+ degrees and and 90%+ humidity, but at least you can get some shade. Yes, you aren't in the shade completely all of the time, but usually by the time you turn, that part of the body will be again allowing it to cool.

I looked at some on the Internet. Found one that I like, but by the time shipping was including ($125) or so, it made it too expensive. Found the other one on the web w/ free shipping, didn't like the flexible (IMHO, cheap looking) canopy, and didn't like the TuffTop style. Ended up just calling my dealer. They had a nice fiberglass one for $350 or I could get the OEM NH (Fibebird Fiberglass) for $650. I chose the $350.

You can see some pictures of it in this thread of where I added it and my sprayer.Sprayin'InTheShade
