Thanks for the stew recommendation. With it being -13 here this morning a little stew slow cooked on the woodstove sounds pretty good. :)

Sounds real good, was gonna say I don't have any deer meat though, then I remembered I do have a couple pounds in the freezer from the BIL in upstate NY.

Was below zero here in southern New England this morning, not unheard of but not that common. Some guy wanted me to go out and look at a Job, I told him no, I'm just gonna hang around the house today.

It is always a good opportunity for a cold start test. Our 1523 has started @ -20c(-4F) on just the glow plugs. We have recently -30c (-22F) but we plugged it in for that, an hour max, and it was good to go.

I hope all of the non-cab operators are bundled up good! I love the cold but when its 10deg out and windy, there's no way i could stay outside for a few hours pushing snow without a cab and heat !

Who was it that posted the thread a week back about not needing a cab and he was out the "old fashioned" way with an open 3320 or something? I want to see if he meant when it was literally this cold out haha. **** i think its cold IN the cab before the heater warms up with no air moving around. I even plug in the block heater when i think im gonna be using it in the next 12hrs or not.

heres mine when i was hooking up the box temporarily.

It was -27F here in Illinois the last two mornings. The good news is that it warmed up to -10 today.

By nine am it had warmed up to -35C here this morning. "john" was plugged in overnight, (battery heater plus block heater) so started fine but I let it warm up for 15 minutes before going to barn for a load of firewood. Even then the hydraulics were kinda slow until they had gone thru a few cycles....(-30C=-30F if I remember)

The comment about hydraulics reminds me that when I start mine up in the cold, I let it run for a few minutes with the valve under the seat closed and the rockshaft control in the up position. This loads the hydraulic system and warms up the fluid quickly. It recommends this in my owner's manual. This is on my 1050.

Well ... it got so cold down here I couldn't stand it!

Thought about it long and hard ... warmer weather ... hot summers ....

That's it ... ordered the 4720 Cab tractor with A/C!

Not!!

L8r,
Joe

p.s. The 2305 survived ... I like my little tractor with the big heart. BTW I got my TractorByNet.com bumper stickers today!!! Many thanks Muhammad!!!
