Most young fans don't know that much about Archie Manning. His father was an alcoholic who blew out his brains in the bathtub. The young teen son, Archie, had to clean up the mess. He spent his senior season to Ole Miss with his left arm (lower and upper) in a cast, yet still scrambled and riddled opponents secondaries to pieces, well enough to win the Heisman. With the N.O. Saints, he played with great courage behind a line that virtually didn't exist. Still, he'd go to Pro Bowl games and show what he was really made of.

He raised three amazing sons. Cooper, the oldest, was a star quarterback until developing a degenerative spinal condition. When Katrina hit, the boys were in their hometown, working side by side with people of all walks of lifen to help those who had lost everything.

Archie and his bride taught the highest values to those boys. Peyton has been known for his intense concentration and mastry of details, audibling all his plays at the line. He took down the Pats and went on to win the Super Bowl last year. At mid-season this year, papers talked about Eli being the mediocre brother. I think that changed today.

Well, these last two Super Bowls must make Archie a pretty proud papa. And with what he's been through in his life, and with the way he raised these sons (all three), he deserves to be proud.

You betcha! And if they had not won Super Bowls, he would still have great sons to be proud of. This is just icing on the cake.:)

You have to love what Peyton told Eli when Eli asked him for advice the morning of the super bowl.
Eli- "Well, what kind of advice can you give me for the game today?"
Peyton- "You are far beyond needing my help."

Yea, I'm sure Archie never had this much fun when he played the game.

And both Payton and Eli have said that Cooper was the best player of the three.

I've thought for a long time that Archie Manning was probably the best QB to never play in a SB. Recent years have to have made him happier than any personal success in his own career would have.

Does anybody else think Bill Bilichik was a major equine's posterior for leaving the field last night with time on the clock and his own defense having to return to the field for one final play? I personally have no strong favorites and really didn't last night, but I thought that was one classless move. I didn't even watch postgame, so I have no idea if he went uphill or downhill from there.

It was only one second, so no big deal to me. It's not the first time this has happened in a game, and certainly won't be the last. I'm not a fan of either team that played last night.
