April SNOW in TEXAS!!!

The forecast last night was for record cold temps today. West Texas had a possiblity of snow, but we only had a 20% chance of rain and and a high today of 40 degrees.

Ten minutes ago, 10:10am, our daughter yelled out that it's snowing outside!! Of course, we thought she was either joking, or had lost her mind. This is East Texas where we are famous for our heat and humidity. Not snow in April!!!!!!

It's not sticking, but it's coming down enough to catch a picture of it.

Steph just too some better pictures of the snow coming down. This is our back pasture. You can see my deer feeder in the picture and the blue thing is a flag on a peddle car. It's still not sticking, but the exitement level is still very high around here!!!!!!!!!

While we aren't in Texas so it isn't unusual for us to get snow in April, how it happened has been a pretty wild ride. Monday and Tuesday were in the low 80s. Wednesday had a high of something like 68 degrees, but that was set at Midnight. Kept dropping all day Wednesday and really windy. Thursday morning on my way to work I passed several accidents and even had a close call myself because of ice on the road. Last night it was clear and then all of a sudden couldn't see the garage out the window it was snowing that hard. Ended up getting maybe half inch or so of really heavy wet snow. I really need to mow, but don't think the mower deck has enough lift to pull the grass up with the snow laying on top of it.

Enjoy. We have been getting only light rain over here and now most of the rain has moved south of us. Still under 40* though so who knows.

It looks like it's over for now, but the weather channel says it's still snowing in Dallas. I'm 100 miles East of Dallas, so it might work it way this way???

Good pictures, Eddie. We had to go to the Presbyterian Hospital on Walnut Hill Lane in Dallas today to take our younger daughter home after some surgery she had day before yesterday. So we were sitting in her hospital room looking out the window when that snow hit Dallas, but it didn't last long enough to get anything wet and the temperature was 38-42 so it didn't last long.

One of my wife's brothers and his wife just sent us an e-mail with some pictures of the 4" of snow they got today in the southern tip of West Virginia.

Darnn that has to be tough for you people down in Texas. Eddie it is great for the kids though. Too bad you didn't get enough to make a snowman or showwoman!

Up here we expect it all through April and into May. But, it is tough for us when the temperatures go up into the 70's and then drop into the teens the very next day, not good for the blood! This morning it was 13 degrees here so not too much snow melts at that temp.

I know I am a little North of you here in NC. We have been in the high 70's for the last few weeks and mid 80's several days. And now...45 min West of me up the mountain they received 8" of wet snow. After opening the 5th wheel camper two weeks ago I had to go this afternoon and winterize it again since they are calling for 20* tonight! Crazy weather!!
