When you're young, things move fast. You think faster, and you reply faster, and you don't always take the time to think about all of the implications of your replies. Maturity comes when you carefully deliberate what you're saying before you commit to it.

All this proves is that I must still be young, because even at chronological age 62, I still make hasty replies in which I have not considered all the implications. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Join the club; next time you do it you get the tee shirt (virtual only, I'm afraid).

You just took an important step. Not sure I could have done it at your age; not sure a whole lot of people my age could have done it.

Jai, another malady you will want to avoid is that of developing an attitude of 'If people have a different opinion from mine, then they are wrong." A variation on this attitude is to turn all opinions into facts, because people can't argue with facts. Always be willing to learn, even from those people with whom you disagree. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif I always said that my father was a very good, bad example...when it came to smoking. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Hakim - Funny you should mention that. It has occurred recently to me that in order to have a second childhood, one must have ended the first.

So I guess my wife need not worry about me & second childhood!

Just remember:

"You can't always be young, but you might be immature forever."

I try to never be offended by someone's opinion, whether I think I can sink it with half my brain tied behind my back or not /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I only get steamed when the comments become personal, and one of the nice things about this board is that very little of that nonsense is tolerated. Believe me, I've seen that kind of posting *ruin* what could have been a great forum resource.

The original poster did not get personal, he just expressed an opinion. Perhaps one that he himself would second-guess now, but who hasn't done that? If you have the same opinions you had months ago, are you growing?

And now, for my variation on the theme:

"Better to be pessimistic and pleasantly surprised than optimistic and dissapointed"

I inherited a bit of pessimism and while it can be a hindrance it is just as often a help, particularly if you are aware of it /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
