Kioti CK4010
I have a 2016 Kioti CK4010 and the dealer sold me the filters and fluids for the first 50 hr change at cost.... but, the hydraulic fluid above is evidently what they use in their tractors and I am not sure it is all that good, or right for my tractor. From TechSelect's website it says it is designed for older equipment applications. Not sure what that means unless it is talking about before tractors started sharing hydraulic and transmission fluid rather than separate. I thought that switched like back in the early 80's though.... I am generally pretty particular about what I put in my vehicles, generally run premium oils like Mobil1 or similar.... just wondering if I should just take this stuff back and get my $ back and then go buy a better grade, or is this stuff ok to use?

Here is the link to the spec sheet.

Ok... just read the spec sheet again after posting and it says it is a "single grade" lubricant... I thought these newer tractors took "multi-grade" My tractor is an HST btw...

Wish I could help you but don't have an answer for you. My post was being a little sarcastic about dealers . Remember the days when you trusted your dealer and they actually knew more than us.

No worries. Yeah, well I believe there are some really knowledgeable dealers out there, but I think they are few and far between. Unfortunately I'm not sure I have one of those in my area.

Why not use what is recommended in the spec sheet you posted for newer tractors- Service Pro® Premium Universal Hydraulic Tractor Fluid.
Your first stop should always be your OEM service manual for the spec of oil to use in any case. The stuff you posted may meet the requirements, but then again it may not. So a little perusing of your owners manual should clarify what is needed.
If you want the best full synthetic, go buy some Kubota SUDT 2. Bring your neighbors wallet with you to pay for it OR stop by the bank on the way for a personal loan.

Just some general comments. Don't know if these will be helpful or not, but it's info. You aren't the only one confused by oils these days.

My Kubota dealer uses New Holland G134 hydraulic/transmission fluid in all the Kubotas that he sells. It's a medium grade multi-purpose hyd/tranny oil that is made specifically to be compatible with a wide range of rubbers, seals, and gaskets. New Holland also sells other grades of hydraulic/transmission fluid including synthetic blends. I like to experiment with oils and have now tried several other trans/hydraulic oils - including Kubota's SUDT which was noisy in our M59. The New Holland G134 works noticibly better in that particular tractor.

On the Super UDT, I remember when Kubota had problems with their dealers selling what they called "counterfit SUDT" - whatever that means. I take it pretty seriously when a manufacturer sends me a warning about their own product!
But that's the only time I've heard of an oil problem. Because of that experience I now try to stick with name-brand oils from a large and well known refinery.
That's mostly for my own peace of mind; I doubt that any name brand oil will actually hurt a tractor simply because I've never heard of it happening.

For a while I relied on standardized tests, but of course those could be counterfit too.
This uncertainty does make it hard on the independent oil producers, some of their products might actually be better than the mainstream offerings. But how do you know?
Good Luck,
rScotty

Don't count on it. First time I purchased oil from a NH dealer they sold me the stuff made for older tractors. I discovered the Tractor Supply Travelers Premium brand oil had the 134D NH compatibility on the label so I have been using that ever since. It has a lot of MFG spec compatibility listings so look into that for future reference.

Well it sounds like your dealer did just what mine has done, and that was the purpose of the original question.... I didn't notice it until I got home and then it was... I don't know that this is the right oil. I got it at dealer cost, but I'll gladly take it back and go buy something at cost if this truly is not the right oil. I googled it (TechSelect) prior to this post just to see if I seen where anyone was using it in a newer tractor with hydro transmission and I couldn't find anything. But giving my dealer the benefit of the doubt I thought I would post it on here to see if anyone else has used it, or their dealer sold it to them as well.

I guess the answer is to just take this back and buy one of the other oils recommended here or in the owners manual since from this spec sheet I do not think this is the correct oil.

Thanks also to Gary and Scotty above for the good info.

Yeah the dealer that pulled this on me was 80 miles away. By the time I could drive back to return it I would have been too far in the hole so I resold it for less than I paid on CL.

Here is the application listings on the Travelers Premium oil if it helps.
