Default is that power button will put the computer to Sleep with a push, and to power off with a 4 sec hold.

Note that the power off is just that, it shuts off the computer. It is not a graceful shutdown, its like pulling out the power cord.

iPad isnt a full computer either..

Having a full computer that won't connect to a network in the field without any add-on peripherals won't do me any good, whereas the iPad can connect me to remote desktops that are full computers if needed.

Really? You dont remember the uproar over having to upgrade almost everything to go XP then... There's a reason MS tries to do some legacy stuff.

I was able to run all or most of my old programs (not games) that I had on XP. Even some of the DOS programs I wrote and was able to run the Windows 3.1 software.

How's the mifi work? Is it a separate device you have to carry around besides a cell phone and surface? I'm ignorant so please pardon the basic questions.

Just a small cellular 4g hotspot from Verizon. Works extremely well and has a really good battery life.

Small. 3.5x2.5. Fits in your pocket.

Ah, that answers that. Yet another device we have to carry around, keep charged, etc... why didn't MicroSoft build cell service into the Surface? frustrating.

True. But unfortunately we're married to Microsoft. We have users that heavily use SharePoint and we tried using iPads but it's extremely clunky because the only real option is to use an rdp app on the iPad.

That being said, we have 1500 employees and so far only 3 have a Surface including myself.

We have several dozen Macs at work. They have just as many problems in a production environment as our PCs. . Also, if you really need deep Mac support in a production environment, good luck with that. There aren't many Mac gurus out there compared to Windows gurus.

I ran into the same thing. Did not get a Mac virus but had the other issues that a PC had. Only had 2 to support so never got into the Apple mind set

I don't think he meant no macs never have problems it just he hasn't had problems with his neither have I and I've been using Mac for close 6 years. 5 on my old MacBook Pro and close to 2 on my new retina Macbook pro. Never a virus on either and never any down time. They can get viruses yes but there are much fewer viruses for macs so its less if a problem. Why do some pc users like you get so upset when something good is said about apple? Do you see Mac and android users say OMG another pc user saying he likes his computer so annoying.... :rollseyes:

Any computer can get a virus . That being said, neither mine nor any here at work have ever gotten one. Never had a problem with a Mac in a work or personal environment. Not saying it doesn't happen, just speaking from my experience.
