Wal-Mart and Sam's sells a box of some sort of "heat packets" that you tear open and put in your gloves for a boost in the winter. Anyone know anyting about them or used them? Seems like a good idea.
Way back someone told me something about them but I only remember he said he taped them to his wrist and his hands felt warmer.

Having lived in Maine for 25 years I know how to layer and have plenty of gloves and liners and such but Ohio is not all that cold. I figure these heat packets would be the lazy man's ticket for those in-between days of Ohio.

This topic didn't search well so hope this is not a dupe.

I use them on really cold days skiing and using the tractor. I find that the boot ones worlk better if you put them betwwen 2 pairs of socks as they can get hot and bunch up. Putting them between the socks makes them easier to put on. The hand ones work well also. I put them in the palms of my hands and if the fingers get cold, I pull my fingers back into my palms, warm them and then put them back to go to work again. They last a long time too.

I use 'em while hunting on really cold mornings. I stick them in my gloves and boots. They allow me to sit on-stand hours longer than without them.

I also use them while riding motorcycles in cold weather. Cheap comfort.

Another tip ,since it is so cold up there, you make a belt or apron, or they sell one too. You can wear them in the area of the kidneys and really fell the warmth. They issue the inserts to us for snow duty and I use them in gloves. The japanese one's can get very warm. Jy.

Yeah they work great last quite awhile too. I pick them up at the farm store nice thing to have in your pocket when cutting firewood.

My wife and kids use them all the time for skiing. I've only used them once or twice, but they work fine. Not too hot and don't last too terribly long, but they do the job.

Use them while deer hunting. Often, I'll not wear gloves and put my hands and the warmers in a pocket.

I've used them quite a bit on deer stands....they work well, but seemed to me that they generate moisture. On a really long day after they quite working I found my boots quite damp....and uncomfortable. Even so, I still use them a lot.
