If your doing a lot of moving dirt and digging and no mowing and you want to do it faster. Go to an M with the biggest bucket made. Maybe don't want to spend that much? Then go to the biggest L made with the biggest bucket. Don't want to go that much? Them go to the Biggest B made with the biggest bucket. Pros: Biggest is quickest Cons: Bigger cost more to purchase but will do it quicker

Kinda, I went from a BX23 to a B3030. It was the right move for me because I got more ground clearance for the woods, better tiller and rottary cutter performance and handling, better backhoe, wider blade for snow removal, more traction with bigger loaded tires, more stability on my hills, better 3 point hitch, smoother ride, more durable tires and the tractor is still relatively light which is important to me becuase I also use it for my everyday mower, twice a week for several months. I love my B3030, it is perfect for me. I swear it is as nimble as my BX23 but it really has some power to get work done. It is also easier to service becuase you can get at stuff underneath with more room. Not to say that I didn't love my BX23 because I did, but I should have started with a B3030 because for the stuff I do it is a better fit, I would have saved myself a few dollars.

If I didn't mow but did all these other things I would seriously look at an L something something. When you are really moving dirt and digging with the hoe you can feel that the machine is just too light to be as effective as a machine that may weigh in at 2 or 2.5 times more. I have only fooled around with L's in dealer lots and they are much more tractor for sure, and the pricing frequently is not much more than a B3030.

Just my thoughts, good luck.

I have the same issues. I am planning on upgrading from my B2100. It has a front mount snowblower and a Curtis soft cab. My driveway is quite long (2/3 km) and I primarily use the B2100 for mowing grass and blowing snow, grading the driveway and some loader work. I find it's just too small for the snowblowing duties and I was looking to upgrade to something with a factory cab. I'm concerned that the L3540 would be too large for mowing the lawn yet, as you mentioned, the cost is not that much more than a 3030. I can get a Massey 1635 Cab model for $1000 more than the B3030 Cab. The 3030 would probably be perfect for what I need, it just seems overpriced.

Well, not really, but I have a BX2660 and recently bought a used Grand L5030 after looking at the smaller units for the purposes you described and am very happy I went with a bigger tractor.
