So my hip have been bothering me for a little bit. I was told taking collagen would help with joint discomfort. I bought the Equate brand, they have a suggested serving size of 20 grams or 4 TBSP. That seems like a lot! I have read that 10 grams is sufficient. Took my first dose today, put 2 TBSP in my yeti cup of green tea this morning, not very good.

Who is taking it, why? Do you notice a difference? Dosage? How do you consume it? Tips and advice are welcome.

I tried it a few years ago thinking it might help my knees. Didn't notice any difference. Probably a couple tbsp/day, usually mixed with food and/or tea.

Some folks get relief from glucosamine and/or chondritin sulfate, but if I recall correctly the source for the latter makes a difference, at least for some people. Both are commonly, and successfully used for dogs and horses, with good data, in my opinion. The human data was less clear cut last time I looked, possibly due to the diversity of problems in human joints. So my $0.02 is whatever works for you and your joints.

Collagen gets digested to get into your body, so any route does the same thing. Add it to soups, gravies, whatever works for you. Straight up, by itself in water, it is not a flavor that appeals to me. In tea sounds just loathsome. I like the Great Lakes brand myself, but I don't take it for my joints.

All the best, Peter
