Anyone Seen New JD ATV\'s Yet?

We have yet to get them in and I am curious to see if anyone has seen them in person and would you guys buy one over the same Bombardier or other brands?

I drove one the other day at the dealer. It was pretty nice. I've never seen the bombardiers but these were pretty good. Automatic shift. Lots of storage and racks. Good power. I don't think I'd buy one because the Gators are so much more handy. My new 4x4 Gator is supposed to be here anyday.

You ordered one? They look nice. They have 4 wheel disk brakes! I could not believe that. I bet the 4 wheel drive with high/lo will make a big difference in the deep snow compared to the 4x2 like I have.

Are you going to sell the 6x4 Gator? I would hope not cause that thing is a real workhorse. Probably rated more for the box anyway. What is the box weight limit on the 4x4?

No I won't sell the 6x4. I just traded for a new one about a month ago. This one has all the hardware around the fenders and the dump bed that my other one didn't have. I was forever breaking fenders on the last one. So far the guards have saved more than one fender.

I'm not sure what the weight capacity of the bed is on the new one.

I talked to the dealer and he said that the new Gator will have 900 lb. payload and 1300 lb. towing capacity. The 6x4's are rated at 800 lb. payload and 1100 towing capacity.

Richard,

I know little about the Gator and find it surprising that the 6x4 has less load capacity than the 4x4. Any idea why? I am just curious because to me it would seem that the extra axle would support more weight rather than less.

It's a comletely new and much stronger frame Mark. It also has independent suspension where the gator just had the big tires for suspension. When the 6x4 came out there wasn't anything like it and it was considered great for it's time. The payload and towing of it was second to none at the time. Then everyone else caught up and now JD is answering with this one. You still can't beat the JD's for compaction though. There is nothing out there that even comes close to matching the gator in terms of compaction rates.
