I just bought a 4047. I have not taken possession yet but I'm pretty excited. The dealer said there were clearance issues on the back tires for chains so he suggested chains on the front. I was also thinking of grooving the rears. Is anyone running chains on the back of these tractors? Will it be necessary with chains on the front and grooved rears? It is pretty snowy and hilly in my neck of the woods. Thanks.

I have no experience with chains on my 4041 but your dealer is correct. There is not much room between my R4's and the fenders. Don't have any experience with grooved tires either, but I think chains on front tires would help you a lot. Congrats on the new Tractor.

An easy fix with a pair of wheel spacers. Can be bought from several places if you know the bolt spacing. I had a set made for my previous tractor (Mahindra 2615HST) which didn't have space for chains. I had 2" spacers made by a local machinist based on a drawing I obtained from another member with the same tractor. My LS XR3037HC does have enough room for chains. I'm sure there must be other members that need chains on their 4041 / 4047. There is at least one wheel spacer seller who is a member here as well.

a 2" spacer would make that much difference???

It did on my Mahindra 2615. Before I put mine on I had about 3/4" between the tire and the frame. Chains Would hit the frame. チdding 2" spacers on each side gave 2 3/4" plenty of room for the ladder chains I bought. I did have to buy longer metric bolts to go through the Wheel and spacer. Some spacers may be able to use the original bolts.

I looked at my 4047 last night, and it seemed like chains would fit....not with a whole bunch of room left over, but still looked doable.
